Mute swan.

Rather a sad story here. In July there was a family of 2 adults and six cygnets (see below) but in August a dog killed one of the adults and a cygnet. It was reported that the dog's owner was encouraging it. As if these wonderful creatures don't have enough to contend with...

The most appalling light conditions today to try out the new camera. It is certainly a lot quicker on the draw than the old one (550D) but there are still some settings I need to get right but I think, in time, we will get to know each other better. Post processing is better too, you can correct your images much better.

What a glorious sight to see out on the river! I never tire of viewing these magnificently beautiful large birds.

Last of my series of Male Mute Swan's chasing geese and other swans out of their territory. They certainly are busy at this time of year!

Spring has arrived in Finland and the thick ice cover has melted away, however, night frost has built a thin layer for the Swans to break during the day time.
