This ministerial session explores how collaboration between the public and private sectors can strengthen transport system resilience. Melinda Crane, Chief Political Correspondent, Deutsche Welle moderates the session and speakers Machteld de Haan (President, Downstream, Renewables and Energy Solutions, Shell), Mathias Cormann (Secretary-General, OECD [Video Message]), and Tobias Meyer (CEO DHL Group) will highlight real-world examples of how both sectors contribute to recovery and adaptability. The session takes place during the International Transport Forum’s 2025 Summit on “Transport Resilience to Global Shocks” held in Leipzig on 22 May 2025.

Balancing Act: Addressing Competing Sectoral Demands for Renewable Energy Resources session at the International Transport Forum Summit on 22 May 2025 in Leipzig, Germany. Speakers include Abel Cecilie Knibe Kroglund, State Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Norway; Mallika Ishwaran, Chief Economist at Shell; Rana Adib, Executive Director at REN21; Stephanie Kodish, Senior Global Director of Drive to Zero, CALSTART; and Yumi Otsuka, Chief Sustainability Officer at Toyota Motor Corporation. The session explores the challenges and opportunities of managing competing sectoral demands for limited renewable energy resources and discusses the necessary policy frameworks and regulatory measures to support decarbonisation goals.
