This was taken at the end of a rather unsuccessful attempt to photograph the ponies in the New Forest in Hampshire. As I trudged disconsolately back to the car this beautiful dog (a Samoyed-cross according to the owner) seemed to pick up on my negative demeanour. Although he was engaged on a mission critical activity (looking for his ball in the heather) he took a little time out in order to pose for me (EM120964)

So many birds yet to discover. I found these at Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Galloway, NJ.The largest of the Swallows and it's deep purple color, they are a sight to see.

Coots and moorhen are not ducks but belong to a group of birds known called Rails. These are quite secretive birds and often avoid people by hiding in the vegetation.
