Based on the original Cosmos textile brooch, this pendant is constructed from various silks and organza. a triple corded taffeta necklace is fastened via a handmade textile button, to compliment the pendant.
This was a commissioned piece and an order that was pretty thrilling to receive so early in my career. This was for a local jeweler, Virginia Causey, who teaches jewelry in Seattle and is someone whom I respect quite a bit. She came up to me at a craft fair and gave me this Roman coin telling me that she just knew I would do something interesting with it. All she told me was her ring size-- beyond that it was completely up to my discretion. So I created a double-sided bezel to show off both sides of the stone. I put that in a split double half round band with a 14k wire in the middle and three 14k gold granules on each side. In the back, not visible in this photo, is a tube-set 3mm faceted peridot.
She loved it and it is still very flattering that she approached me with this project. To this day, every time I see her, she tells me that she shows the ring to all her students.
