I am completely obsessed with birdcage cakes! I was more than thrilled when given the opportunity to make this one for a bird themed baby shower. The design is by The-Icing-on-the-Cake (Jo).

This cake was inspired first by the invitation which was titled "beautiful birdcage"and then by the many birdcage cakes on flickr and the web.
Carrot cake with cream cheese filling and my own yummy white chocolate fondant. 8 inch rounds about 10 inches high.

Gum paste shoe with a glimpse of the matching handbag. I think I'll come back in my next life as a shoe designer! Some days I just love my job! Perfect size 5!
Took this photo before I cleaned up the board...hence the bit of "glue" beneath the heel :-(( But I always forget to take close ups of my gum paste froo froo's so snapped this one before I finished up the cake.

Another unique wedding cake. I seem to be recently working with brides who have a very distinct idea of what they want for their cake. The draping is a graduated teal blue for the idea of falling water. Bride wanted the top flowers only to be ringed with gold - I was quite surprised to find the silver monograms when I arrived at the venue.
This was a first for me...a baby sip and see party cake. The party planner specified not a baby shower and no cutesy baby stuff. This was for a very chic mommy and the design was based on the nursery decor. I couldn't resist making some reference to mommy and baby with the birds.

I wish I could get good pics at this venue! They put privacy shades down so that guests can't see into the ballroom until the "grand entrance" which means that I get crummy pics of all of my cakes in there!
All custom made gum paste flowers, including orchids, daisies, daffodils, hydrangea and ivy.

Still lots of black, white and red weddings happening! Takes a bold couple to go with this look, but I'm lovin' it!
Fondant covered with fondant drapes; sugar pearls and bouquets of gum paste hydrangeas. I think this design looks so classically timeless and elegant!

We twisted our old star wars cake design by adding the shading on the buttercream. Yoda, Princess Leia, and Boba Fet are made from fondant. The ship on top of the 8" round cake is lego toys. This cake serves 50. Happy Birthday Jake!
