This is a man's world
This is a man's world
But it would be nothing, nothing
Without a woman or a girl
You see, man made the cars
To take us over the road
Man made the train
To carry the heavy load
Man made the electrolight
To take us out of the dark
Man made the boat for the water
Like Noah made The Ark
This is a man's, man's, man's world . . but it would be nothing, nothing. Without a woman or a girl
Man thinks about a little bit of baby girls and of baby boys
Man make them happy
'Cuse man make them toys;
and after man make everything
Everything he can, you know that man makes money
To buy from other man
This is a man's world
But it would be nothing, nothing
Not one little thing
Without a woman or a girl
He's lost in the wilderness
He's lost in bitterness

There I was in the cemetery, getting as low as I could on the sodden ground and totally absorbed when I heard a little cough and a voice said "S'cuse me are you a friend of the cemetery.... can you tell me where the walnut tree is?".... I mean...........what would you have answered?

The creative process is not like a situation where you get struck by a single lightning bolt. You have ongoing discoveries, and there's ongoing creative revelations. Yes, it's really helpful to be marching toward a specific destination, but, along the way, you must allow yourself room for your ideas to blossom, take root, and grow.

Please take a seat... S'cuse me, Ma'am? Ahem, S'CUSE me?!... Oi! Hooman?
Yes, Flynn?
You deaf, or what?! Look! I found you a bench! Sit!!
I beg your pardon, Flynn?!
I saaaid SIT!! You. Hooman. Sit 'ere, on this bench!... Please.
Flynn... I was literally just sitting on that other bench. Thanks for showing me, but I'd like to carry on going!
Hooman! I thought you learnt this years ago?! The Rule is: when I show you a bench, you sit down! Now, SIT! See where my paw is? That's where you sit! Simple!
Hmm, sorry, not now! It's cold, we need to heading home!
No, you sit!
Nope! Let's go!
Gah! 'Let's go!'' she says. Urgh! Honestly, trainin' a sheep'd be easier... Wha' did Ol' Granny-Collie say? Oh yes, 'Puppies, never bother tryin' to train a hooman, cause while sheeps have woolie coats, hoomans' have woolie brains!' But here's me, thinkin' that after ten years I did at least teach MY hooman to sit on a bench when she's asked to... but no, she's still misbehavin'. Or maybe it's just too hard for her to understand...?
Flynn, I'm going to pretend I AM deaf and didn't hear any of that!
I've written before about Flynn's habit of herding me to benches & wanting me to (briefly) sit on them. Usually, this happens in woods, where there's only a few seats to be found. This week, we went round the churchyard & along the whole length of one side of the church, there is a row of benches. I took a seat on the 1st bench that Flynn "showed" to me. As usual, after a minute or two, he then decided I must be done resting & began encouraging me back up! We moved on.
Flynn passed the next bench without a fuss, but at the one after, we had a stand-off - me not wanting to sit immediately after standing & him refusing to move further. He'd poke the seat with his nose: "sit here!", then stare me in the eye, to make sure I was getting the message. I kept refusing, til Flynn gave up & sulked along behind me. The same... discussion... repeated several times. Here, we'd reached the end of the row. Despite my attempts to jolly him along, Flynn was now quite frustrated at my wilful stupidity. After standing by this bench a moment, apparently considering options, Flynn actually slapped his paw on the bench a couple of times, to make it completely clear what he wanted! I think I failed my training this week ;-) Obviously, this really is a very quick snapshot, taken while I was laughing at the sight of my dog resorting to smacking a bench... I had to use it for the project - Flynn at his Flynniest!

... of a story is always the best part of the story, and yet there's sort of this implicit idea that the finale is somehow supposed to be the mind-blowing best episode of a show. The question is: Why is that? Why do people make that assumption?

Lemon Blueberry muffins are amazing all on their own. But, with cream cheese icing?...oh, yeah..... look at how shiny and creamy and smooth it is..... that is full fat cheese. None of that low fat sh%* for me.... s'cuse my French.....
We had icing left over from carrot cake ... so popped it in the 'fridge.... you never know what you can put it on 'til something presents. And, it did.
I'm sure I've put my muffin recipe on here previously.. I'll check and add it later if I haven't.
This one was made with fresh berries... but they can be done with frozen as well...
Here is the recipe from my Tea and Scones blog....
Lemon Cranberry/Blueberry Muffins
(interchangeable with blueberries)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lemon Cranberry Muffins
1/2 cup of butter
3/4 cup of granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
Grated zest of about ½ a big lemon
Juice from the lemon..about ½ to ¾ of a cup
2 cups of all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
2 good tbsps. of plain yogurt..or milk, to make dough less dry
Handful (about ½ cup or so …up to you) of dried cranberries or fresh blueberries or even use frozen..(see note below).
….. For drizzle….
2 tbsps. lemon juice
1 tbsp. granulated sugar
I use my mixer but by hand is fine too. Beat butter well…add sugar and beat ‘til fluffy; add eggs, one at a time; beating after each addition. Add vanilla, grated lemon zest and lemon juice.. mix well. Measure and mix together the flour, baking powder and baking soda. If you like a bit of extra salt add it to this mix…I find enough salt with just the butter. Add flour mixture all at once and mix ‘til just incorporated…(too much mixing will make the texture too fine; more like cupcakes!)…if you don’t get enough juice from the lemon..it may seem a bit dry so gently fold in the yogurt…I always add it to mine as I like them nice and moist (but not so moist that they don't hold some shape when I put the mix in the cups) Toss in some cranberries at the same time.. gently fold in….
I use giant muffin cups..so I only get 8 of what I like to call MY size! It probably makes 12 for most folks. Bake at 350F. or 180C for about 20 to 25 mins… check with toothpick … when it comes out clean they are done. If you want to add drizzle…now is the time…. Mix the lemon juice and sugar….poke a few holes in the top of each with a skewer or something similar and drizzle a bit of lemony sugar over each while they are hot. Wait a few minutes if possible..and then…give ‘em a taste!
To make these into Blueberry Muffins... just add some fresh or frozen blueberries instead of the cranberries. Try to toss thawed berries (hopefully they were frozen separately and are not just mush) ick.... with a tiny bit of flour or some sugar and then fold in very gently, just near the end of mixing. Don't over mix..as they will turn the whole muffin streaky blue. Remember, over-mixing also takes away the rustic texture .. ... unless of course, you prefer that ... then... by all means, just mix away. I prefer muffins with a rustic appearance.
