The tour starts at the impressive Colonial Cathedral in Cusco that contains over 400 paintings from the Cusquenan School, several altars. After that we go to visit the Temple of the Sun, main religious center of the Incas dedicated to the Sun Cult. According to the chroniclers, the walls of this temple were entirely covered with gold.
From here we go by bus the visit the four ruins at less than 8 km from Cusco, including Sacsayhuamán, famous for its enormous carved rocks and Q´enqo y Tambomachay.
We arrived in Cusco and met our group and guide at the El Mercado hotel. Our guide, Dalmiro, took us on a tour of Cusco including a few Inca sites, one in particular called Saqsaywaman.

The tour takes approximately 2 hours and starts at the base camp with an orientation from our guides.
After this, a 20 min walk will take you to the beginning of the circuit, which consists of a total of 2500m of cables divided into 7 sections.
After the third cable, there is a rockclimb up a vertical ladder (Via Ferrata) more than 150m above the Rio Sacsara.
Finally, there’s a short walk back down to base camp, where equipment is returned.
The Canopy Tour includes all equipment (harness, helmet and gloves) as well as the guided and supervised tour of the canopy.

Nach meinem insgesamt dritten Besuch in Cusco wurde es doch endlich mal Zeit, die lokale Spezialität "Cuy del horno" (Meerschweichen aus dem Ofen) zu probieren. Zwar ein besonderes Happening, auch ganz lecker, aber bei weitem nicht so schmackhaft, dass sich die extreme Arbeit lohnen würde, die man mit dem Tierchen hat. Im Gegensatz zu z.B. Hähnchen besitzt Cuy nämlich sehr wenig Fleisch, das sich auch bei weitem nicht so gut vom Knochen löst. Wirklich satt wird man also eher von den Beilagen, wenn man nicht schon die selben Kalorien beim Kampf um das Fleisch verbrannt hat...
