Cusack, Margaret. (The Nun of Kenmare). The Liberator, his life and times, political, social and religious.
Kenmare, Kenmare Publications, 1872.
This large and sumptuously bound book was published in 1872 and provides a detailed if somewhat hagiographic account of the life of Daniel O’Connell. In terms of Irish book production it is an interesting publication. The binding, in green and with a portrait of O’Connell in gilt, is very fine and the pages are decorated throughout with Neo-Celtic borders incorporating native Irish flora such as acorns, sprouting branches and shamrocks. The author of the book, Margaret Anna Cusack, was a prolific writer on Irish politics and history, in addition to being a social activist and the founder of a religious order. She put much of her energy into attempting to ameliorate the condition of the poor in Ireland, both through her writings and by practical charitable work. In her later years she was an outspoken proponent of women’s rights and female suffrage. The ‘Life of O’Connell’ was written while Cusack was a member of the order of the Poor Clares, and working with the poor in Kenmare. She was a controversial figure and her achievements have been underrated because of her opposition to the established authorities of the time.

Quote from the movie High Fidelity.
High Fidelity is quite possibly my favorite movie. It is such an underrated movie and John Cusack is my favorite actor in the world.
I don't care what kind of movies you normally watch, everybody should watch this movie.
