This one is from the last, good fog event I saw at the Golden Gate. While pondering a long lens shot of the bridge, I was drawn to the northeast by the lovely pink glow in the sky, which served as a backdrop for the fog meandering up the headlands and past winding Conzelman Road.

Here's a couple of views of the train we took on Saturday. I stood at the rear just to get these shots. Not as exciting as the speed pic but they show off the train nicely.
This one shows us taking a nice sweeping curve just outside Nottingham. No, it's not over exposed, it really was like that.
These cloud formations slowly changed over the course of about an hour, they looked unusual and interesting to me :) it was also 10c! very mild!
Aerial shot of curves and lines in a Dutch agricultural landscape. This natural waterway flows through land which was cultivated centuries ago. The allotments changed several times since then but this little stream wasn't affected by human interference.

Winter is in full swing here on Long Island, so I decided to stay indoors and try my hand at some flower photography.
Flowers are not really my strong suit, but the cold weather is offering me a perfect opportunity to get in some practice. The first in this set is a calla lily that was sporting some beautiful curves, colors and textures. I tired to keep it simple, and just focus on the flower's best attributes.

"Curvy Calla" is a non-HDR image that was processed using a combination of ACR, Photoshop and various Topaz Labs Plugins (Adjust, AI Clear, Denoise, Glow, and Impression).

This shot started out yesterday when I saw two apples side by side on the nearly empty top shelf of my fridge. They had lots of top light coming from behind and essentially a white tent on three sides. The white light from the back wall came blasting out between the two apples. It was a very cool vision and I figured I'd just "run what I brung" – crank up the ISO and shoot it in the fridge. I did that today and it turned out well. But then I realized, each apple is 3 inches wide, so – duh! – that makes the entire image too wide for macro status. Dang! I tried some variations to get a good cropped pair of apples into 3x3. I got something I liked pretty well. started processing it, then (ready for some refreshment) cut up the red apple and began eating it. That's when I saw these luscious curves and not-so-luscious (but oh-so-cool) textured stem. The macro details got me excited and pretty soon I was shooting this image of the apple core.
