Today, I was in the neighbourhood of Bishamon-dō (毘沙門堂) in Yamashina, Kyoto. Although the red maple leave colours were past their peek time, there was still a lot to discover. This is the Bansui-en (晩翠園) garden created in the early Edo period. It has an Kame-ishi (亀石), Chidori-Ishi (千鳥石) and Zazenseki in the pond. The pond has an inverted shape of a cursive style Chinese character meaning “mind”.
she's upset,
bad day.
heads for the dresser drawer to,
drive her pain away..
nothing good can come of this.
she opens it,
there's nothing there,
it's only left over tears.
"mom and dad had no right",
she screams,
as the anger runs down both of her cheeks.
then she closed her eyes,
found relief in a knife.
the blood flows as she cries.
all alone,
the way she feels.
left alone,
to deal with all the pain-drenched sorrow relief..
bite the lip,
just forget the bleeding.
then she closed her eyes,
found relief in a knife..
the blood flows,
as she cries.
curled up,
shes on the floor.
relief left her,
she had hoped for something more
from it.
He leans down to comfort her,
she is weeping,
and He wraps His arms around
and around,
and around,
and..
the deeper you cut,
the deeper i hurt.
the deeper you cut,
it only gets worse.
now she's slowly opening,
new eyes..
she opened her eyes,
and found relief through His life,
and put down her knives.
then she opened her life,
and found relief through His eyes.
and put down,
she put down her life.
-the way she feels, between the trees
favourite song,
always will be.
it's my story,
and her story.
My friend Erica has come into the possession of some beautiful old autograph albums from the late 1800s. They're filled with little drawings and exquisitely worded poems and well-wishes. Everything feels so formal and sincere. The quality of the penmanship from that period is unbelievable. Most of the signatures in the books, including this one, were written by kids in high school.
custom monograms available in my etsy shop. part of my newest collection, teacher's pet. see profile for details.

My Aunt Mae wrote this 51 years ago to my mom and dad (her brother). I am guessing it was a reference to her 50th wedding anniversary. A fascinating takeaway was I certainly did not know my uncle Neal was actually Neale.
