Volunteers Needed! These photos show the trash currently in this historic stream. We can certainly use your help! Please mark your calendars for our cleanup of the Historic Bread and Cheese Creek on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Rain or Shine, we clean up the section of Historic Bread and Cheese Creek from the Berkshire Area to North Point Road. Registration will be at 2408 Plainfield Road, Dundalk, MD 21222. This event will be run in conjunction with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay’s Annual Project Clean Stream and American River’s Nation River Cleanup as well as Reclaim the Bay! We have also attached an event flyer for your use.

We run our cleanups as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We welcome every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the cleanup. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we need people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to help at registration, setup food and snacks as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. We will provide lunch and snacks as well as gloves. A limited number of tools are available for sign-out, but suggest bringing your own if you have them

Volunteers are also needed to arrive early and stay late for setup and break down. Photographers and Videographers also needed!

My current family as of today. ^o^

I'm gonna do Rheia's faceup and then find her a name.

The 3 out for a faceup are at Caroline's. ♥

The 2 LTF's have been ordered blank, I'm gonna do their faceups. LTF Chloe will be most likely using her sleeping faceplate moded, because I like the LTF Chloe, but her eyes are too high up in my opinion. It always shocked me, I mean there are plenty of gorgeous LTF Chloes out there, but I still think their eyes are too high up on the face lol. So I'm gonna mod the sleeping face with open eyes, same shape as the open faceplate except that the eyes will be a little more down on the face if that makes sense. XD

Also ordered Dollzone Rosen, but didn't put her on here because I don't like uneven numbers lol.

I found this one recently on eBay, being sold as a mystery "antique jigsaw puzzle" with "dozens and dozens" of pieces! It came in a plain brown cardboard box (with quite a lot of dust and a sprinkling of pet hair...), which doesn't give me many more clues. There is something handwritten on the front, but it is damaged and faded, so I can't really make it out (unless it really is titled "two chimps in a bow" - that's my best guess!). There is also a crossed out note of "3 pieces missing", so I guess they either found them or lost more. I counted 462 pieces, most of which are brown... wish me luck!

Currently located in the Martin Luther King Jr. Library

My sister is in the Young Women's presidency at my church, and asked for my help to make a quilt for one of the girls going off to college this year. The girls pieced the top, I'm quilting it, and then I'll teach the girls to sew buttons at each of the corners. I got the idea from this Sew 4 Home tutorial. I wanted something that teenage girls who have never sewn could do easily, while trying to teach them a new skill or two!

The iconic poppy sculpture Weeping Window is currently on display at Carlisle Castle.

The dramatic work, by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper, will be in the city until July 8 2018, as part of the final year of the 14-18 NOW UK tour of the poppies.

Thousands of ceramic poppies cascade from the top of the castle's keep. This sea of red arcs over the inner ward wall and flows down into the outer ward of the castle complex.

Carlisle is one of just four venues to host the installation during 2018.

Weeping Window is one of two sculptures from the Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red installation, originally displayed at the Tower of London in 2014. That original artwork was made up of 888,246 poppies, one to commemorate every British or Colonial life lost at the front during the First World War.

The presentation by 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary, gives people across the UK the chance to experience the impact of the ceramic poppy sculptures in a range of places that had particularly strong connections to the First World War.

Having been the headquarters of the Border Regiment, the castle makes a fitting location. 23,000 recruits passed through the castle during the First World War, with battles claiming 7,000 lives. The regiment was honoured with five Victoria Crosses.

The sculptures have already been displayed in 15 locations since the tour started in 2015 and viewed by more than 3.75 million people to date. At the end of the tour they will become part of the Imperial War Museums’ collection.

Andrea Selley, Historic Properties Director of English Heritage North, said: “The installation has been a true labour of love and an insight into the intricacies of building such a unique sculpture.

“The historical legacy of the castle is such that this is the perfect location especially in the last year of the Poppies tour and we look forward to welcoming visitors to see what is an extraordinary work of art, within an extraordinary location.”

Jenny Waldman, Director of 14-18 NOW, said: “The poppies have captivated millions of people across the UK, and we are delighted to present Weeping Window at Carlisle Castle as part of the ongoing tour. We are so grateful to artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper for these two enormously powerful artworks of national significance that continue to inspire all who see them.”

Together, the sculptures Wave and Weeping Window are made of more than 11,000 poppies. Poppies: Weeping Window by artist Paul Cummins, artist & Tom Piper, designer at Carlisle Castle
