Taken from a small meadow I found after mountain biking around Mt. Sutro. Took a wrong turn, went down a small path, and then bam. Meadow and an overlook on the north-west part of SF.
The current exhibition at the MU Gallery reflects on the impact of Jim Falck on Visual Arts and the MU Gallery. Every three years, the Gallery hosts an exhibition about how Jim Falck's endowment has built new connections and possibilities for NDSU. The show, A Protest Against Forgetting, features four sections that touch on community, scholarship, practice and art history. As viewers walk into the Gallery, they will see new works by Kimble Bromley and Dave Swenson created from funds generously donated to support Faculty Professional Practice. To the left, is a section called Art Ambassadors curated by Visual Arts student Anna Timmerman. Anna includes a timeline, images, quotes and a collaborative work to showcase the community building work Art Ambassadors do at NDSU. The Ambassadors are given a stipend from Falck and represent the elevated sense of community he hoped might be fostered from his endowment. Toward the back of the Gallery are ten new works created from scholarship winners during the 2022 semester. This wall also includes a slideshow of all the Falck Scholarship Award winners from the Undergraduate Juried Exhibition 2017 to present. The show concludes with a blend of original works by Jim Falck hung beside masters of past Art Movements. This section, curated by student Collection's Assistants Henry Luitjens and Ethan Norris, uses focused light to depict how Jim may have been inspired by the philosophies, styles and artworks of his contemporaries.
