This is the current “ Oldest Known Vauxhall Cavalier in the UK “.

In 2018 Head of Product PR & Heritage at Vauxhall Motors LTD , conducted an investigation at the owners request into the build date of Vauxhall Cavalier mk1 1.9 GL registration: NUP372P and to establish if any other KNOWN Vauxhall Cavaliers that were manufactured before this one still exist.

It was established that,

To Vauxhall Motors knowledge, Vauxhall Cavalier mk1 1.9GL reg: NUP372P was indeed the oldest known surviving Vauxhall Cavalier in the UK with a

Build date : 14th November 1975 ( NUP372P ) (Build sheet obtained and confirmed)

More startling information:

This build date preceded the date of manufacture for Vauxhall Cavalier LOU848P that had previously made claim to be the “oldest Vauxhall Cavalier in the world” (according to a sign often placed in front of the car at events. Google it, it usually appears in search).

The official build date for Vauxhall Cavalier LOU848P being 20th May 1976 when it rolled off the production line (Build sheet obtained and confirmed)

The Vauxhall Cavalier received it’s UK-unveil at the October 1975 Earls Court Motor Show, making it physically IMPOSSIBLE for Vauxhall Cavalier LOU848P to have been on display as the launch and press release car ( this being another claim previously made ), unless of course it was fitted with a “FLUX CAPACITOR” so it could travel back from the 20th May 1976 to October 1975. . ( sorry for the Back to the Future reference )

Since the investigation into the build date of NUP372P was conducted, more mk1 Vauxhall Cavaliers that pre-date that of LOU848P have either been discovered or come to light. This also means that possibly, just possibly a Vauxhall Cavalier could be found in the coming years that even pre-dates that of NUP372P.

So if you have a Vauxhall Cavalier parked up in a barn, garage or outbuilding. You never know what you might have there.

With an official build date backed up with build sheet from Opel of 14th November 1975.

Purchased brand new from Vauxhall dealership J S Robson located in Consett, County Durham.

With only one former keeper the Cavalier was parked up in a garage from 1992 by the original keeper.

The Cavalier was recommissioned in 2017 where the following year the Head of Product PR & Heritage Vauxhall Motors LTD investigated the vehicle and its status.

Leiden: Fine Art Photography

The National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden, founded in 1818. In addition to numerous impressive collections, the Egyptian collection is one of the largest and most complete collections of Ancient Egyptian art in the world.

The basis for the current Egypt collection of the National Museum of Antiquities was created in 1827 by the Dutch naval officer J.H. van der Werff from Leiden collected during his trip to Egypt. This included mummies, sarcophagi, statues, and utensils. After arriving in Hellevoetsluis it was transported to Leiden on December 1, 1828. The transfer of the collection to Leiden was an important event for Dutch Egyptology. It was also the first time that an extensive collection of Egyptian artefacts was exhibited in the Netherlands, where it can still be seen today.
