The days go by, through the brief silence of winter, when the sunshine is so still and pure, like iced wine, and the dead leaves gleam brown, and water sounds hoarse in the ravines.

Different but same, you can see

pine cones, acorns falling from trees.

Lost in nature, all of our days.

Blessed are we and our silly ways.

Crazy Tuesday #Autumn

Thanks for your visit and taking the time to comment so I can visit your photos, too... very much appreciated! Have a great day!

A red fox all curled up in the snow. This photo was taken in Churchill Manitoba in Canada.

One of Jeffreys favorite hiding places is behind a curtain and above the radiator.

Here are five interesting facts about them:

1. These beautiful snakes can grow to about 1.8 metres long, with females growing slightly larger than males.

2. Despite their name, green tree pythons are born bright yellow or red. They turn green after the first year.

3. Green tree pythons have a very unusual way of resting on branches. They go round and round in coils and rest their head in the middle.

4. When hunting, they sit on a branch and wait for their prey to walk below, so that they can strike quickly, snatch their prey and constrict it with their coils before eating it whole. Sometimes they wiggle the end of their tail as a lure. They eat small mammals and reptiles.

5. The green tree python is found in New Guinea, far north Queensland and on a few islands of Indonesia. They are reasonably common and are not considered in danger of extinction.

The unimpressed look on Macey's face cracks me up......she was trying to take her after dinner nap when I started taking pictures.

I liked the fact that you can see both her shadow and reflection from this vantage point in my bedroom.

I recently bought this recliner and she's found it to be very suitable for her needs as well. LOL!

Have a nice weekend.....the snow has hit us over here, it definitely looks like winter has come to stay.

Had to take a photo of Jess asleep on her doorstep as her door was opened she looked so sweet

Thought I would bother the cat, but she was asleep.

A furry rock? No, it's a little Coyote, taking a nap in a prairie dog town. If the hills have eyes, the upland prairie has ears...

A cute little caterpillar that I found in the leaf litter in my garden last weekend. I'm not sure what species it is, or whether I've captured enough detail for an ID.

Up close and personal with Velvet.

(found in my photo archives....)

nah, just a dragonfly on a dried, curled-up leaf.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

A chance encounter. I was exiting the park after an intense shoot when I noticed this little one curled up in a field of wheat stubble just off the road. This wouldn't happen in summer, when tourist traffic is heaviest and most wild critters stay away from the roads (except at night). Shooting from the rolling red Toyota blind, as soon as I focused the 500mm I could see that it was watching me. With both eyes.

Three frames later, it got up, crossed the road, and went off in search of a more secluded place, or perhaps a meal. For me, it was an unexpected bonus after a good morning spent with deer, coyotes, and the first ice on the river.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! (We had ours in October, which makes sense in a northern location, where harvest is earlier in the season.)

Sometimes All we need is a hug...

This large drinker moth caterpillar was trundling along the road outside my house this morning. I assume it was maybe looking for somewhere to pupate. I relocated it to a safer place in the garden after taking this close-up of its colourful patterning.

Garden Tiger or Woolly Bear curled up in the herbage, would he unravel would he heck!

The primadonna number one cat of the household, Princessa is the favorite.

I thought I should try and put my barely touched 50mm lens to use since it just mostly sits around. I've had this lens for quite some time now but I can't seem to put down my long lens and macro.

It's tough getting her photo, since she's doesn't seem to be a huge fan of the camera. I kind of wonder if she thinks the lens is a monster's eye looking at her with malicious intent.

Happy Caturday!

Anytime is bedtime for a cat and Ginger makes sure of that.....

2023 Weekly Alphabet Challenge - BEDTIME

We had a great week away but instead of bringing home souvenirs, I brought home a cold :(

I have spent the last week feeling awful and sleeping a lot. I must have been poorly because I've only turned the Mac on twice in seven days - gasp!!

Good news, it's cleared up just in time to return to work - hooray, excellent timing ;)

This is possibly Creeping Cinquefoil ~ Potentilla reptans, but there are loads in this particular plant family so an exact ID would be difficult.

This is the flower before it's opened, connected to this photo:

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)

Willow very much summing up the mood in our house today.....

Processed from the sofa on my iPad using Snapseed - entirely from RAW, following their recent upgrade.

This is Sasha. She belongs to my hair salon (or I should say the OWNER of my salon). This afternoon, when I arrived, Sasha came from her bed in the back to greet me as usual. Seeing her I never would have guessed she was pregnant let alone DUE TODAY!

The babies, and there could be five or six of them, are carried in the forward part of her body so much so Sasha's breathing is a little strained.

I don't think I'll be able to wait six weeks for my regular haircut before stopping in to see the little ones. So exciting.

WHIPPET INFO:

Whippets are believed to be descendants from Greyhounds who were too small for stag and deer hunting in England. These dogs were returned to their breeders, who continued to breed them and thus produced a smaller dog useful for rat catching and hunting hares and rabbits. Commonly known to ‘snap up’ prey, they assumed the nickname ‘snap dogs’. They have a unique way of running known as double suspension gallop; resulting in all legs being off the ground twice in each stride. This allows the breed to reach speeds of around 40 mph. Although not the fastest dog in the world, they are certainly the quickest at accelerating. Extremely intelligent, they are generally very gentle in temperament and are not prone to barking. Being race dogs they require regular exercise, although many are content to spend most of their time resting and lounging with their owner.

One fern in the garden hadn't uncurled this afternoon. I was desperately trying to find something different to photo for today's photo. Just after I'd taken this I heard the pup - phew!!

Not actually sure about this photo - comments welcome.

Maybe better viewed large.

Thank you for your favourites. :O)

i can't decide how i feel about this.. might not be finished editing. should i remove the picture frame (in the corner) or does it not make a difference? i kinda like it but it might be cluttering up the frame.

the pose, i think, is sweet... and very natural. i always curl up and grab my feet. (i really enjoyed being in the womb, so much that i didn't want to come out for two & a half weeks! ;) .. sorry, too much information?! heh :P

also, i tried for dramatic lighting.. not sure if i did a good job.. didn't use my fancy shmancy strobe, mainly because i STILL don't understand it, so it was just a bare bulb propped up & beaming down, at about a 45 degree angle. if that makes any sense.

There was a pond next to this bench, and this lily pad seemed to have escaped for a nap.
