One of the oldest canals in Flanders (13th century), connecting Bruges with Ghent, it provides Bruges with water for its famous canals - without it, no Venice of the North! Both banks between Oostkamp and Beernem, are now a nature area, curated by Natuurpunt.

Modern art galleries and museums have always wanted to tell a story in the usual fashion of linear history. So as a rule rooms in galleries tended to be set out in historical periods or particular styles. The contemporary curator however eschews all that, throws everything into the mix and allows the viewer to piece together their own story.
Now this is all very well for the informed art lover, but can be very confusing to those who have never studied art history. It's a sink or swim model, and the jury is still out on whether this approach is going to be successful.
This section of the QVMAG was recently renovated to allow for more works to be shown from the very large collection that Launceston has built up over 200 years (the settlement itself was founded in 1806). One problem for photographers is that the light intensity has been reduced to 40 lumens per square metre (for example a 60 watt light bulb provides 800 lumens per square metre). This is so the works are not damaged by excess light. But it does make getting good photographs of the works very difficult indeed. This photograph, for instance, appears much brighter than the lighting actually was.

a perfect way of summing up this year, 2020. Some parts good, some parts bad, horribly bad, kinda like my photostream!
So'ooo...for me, to get myself through 2021, I'm going to throw on some spandex for the mind and workout some more hardcore images.

The Bay of Fires is a bay on the northeastern coast of Tasmania in Australia, extending from Binalong Bay to Eddystone Point.
The Bay of Fires (indigenous name: larapuna) is a bay on the north eastern coast of Tasmania, extending from Binalong Bay to Eddystone Point. It is a 29 km long sweep of powder-white sand and crystal-clear seas, with a string of superb beaches, punctuated by lagoons and rocky headlands, backed by coastal heath and bush.
The bay was given its name in 1773 by Captain Tobias Furneaux in Adventure, who saw the fires of Aboriginal people on the beaches along the coast line. The Bay of Fires is characterized by white beaches, blue water and huge granite blocks that are coloured bright orange by lichens. Perhaps, Captain Tobias Furneaux named the bay after these fiery red rocks. The lichens responsible for the orange hue in the rocks of Bay of Fires belong to the family Hymeneliaceae.
The conservation area is divided into three sections, with Anson's Bay dividing the southern and northern ends. A scenic view of the bay can be glimpsed by driving along the coast to The Gardens.

The Brown Thornbill is a small bird, but is one of the medium-sized and more common of the thornbills. It has olive-brown to grey upperparts, with a warm reddish-brown forehead scalloped with paler markings. The rump has a reddish-brown patch, the tail is grey-brown with a black band and a pale tip, and the underparts are off-white, streaked blackish on the chin, throat and chest. The eye is dark red. The sexes are similar and young birds are only slightly different to adults, with a duller eye.
The Brown Thornbill is found only in eastern and south-eastern Australia, including Tasmania.
The Brown Thornbill feeds mainly on insects, but may sometimes eat seeds, nectar or fruit. They feed, mainly in pairs, at all levels from the ground up, but mostly in understorey shrubs and low trees. Will feed in mixed flocks with other thornbills out of breeding season.
The Brown Thornbill may lack the flamboyance of a rosella or the melodious song of a butcherbird, but for many people in eastern and south-eastern Australia, they are a familiar and friendly face in the garden or the bush alike. With a cheeky demeanour, bold attitude and frenetic buzzing calls, these diminutive birds have the ability to brighten the day of anyone nearby. (Birdlife Australia)

The East Temple is a prominent 7,709 ft summit made of Navajo Sandstone in Zion National Park in Washington County of Utah, United States. The nearest higher peak is The West Temple, 3.85 miles (6.20 km) to the west-southwest.
This was taken on board a tourist coach while travelling along the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway.
Zion National Park is an American national park located in southwestern Utah near the town of Springdale. A prominent feature of the 229-square-mile park is Zion Canyon, which is 15 miles long and up to 2,640 ft deep. The canyon walls are reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone eroded by the North Fork of the Virgin River. The lowest point in the park is 3,666 ft at Coalpits Wash and the highest peak is 8,726 ft at Horse Ranch Mountain. Located at the junction of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, and Mojave Desert regions, the park has a unique geography and a variety of life zones that allow for unusual plant and animal diversity. Numerous plant species as well as 289 species of birds, 75 mammals, and 32 reptiles inhabit the park's four life zones: desert, riparian, woodland, and coniferous forest. Zion National Park includes mountains, canyons, buttes, mesas, monoliths, rivers, slot canyons, and natural arches. (Wikipedia)

The World's Largest Lobster (French: Le plus grand homard du monde) is a concrete and reinforced steel statue by Canadian artist Winston Bronnum. The statue is 11 metres long and 5 metres tall, weighing 90 tonnes. The sculpture was commissioned by the Shediac Rotary Club as a tribute to the town's lobster fishing industry The sculpture took three years to complete, at a cost of $170,000. It attracts 500,000 visitors per year. The giant claws are constructed of fibreglass.
Shediac is recognized all over the world as "The Lobster Capital of the World" for its lobster fishing industry.
Contrary to popular belief, this is not actually the "World's Largest Lobster" as that title went to the Big Lobster statue in Rosetown, South Australia, until 2015 when Qianjiang, Hubei, China built a 100-tonne lobster/crayfish.

Found this cool sticker on a signpost on an overpass. Sized it up and took the shot. Used Lightroom to really bring out the vibrancy and clarity.
Last Friday, my sorority put on a captivating Vampire-themed fashion show called "Vampire En Vogue." As pledges, we were tasked with curating outfits for four distinct categories: Bikini, Formal, Lingerie, and House Pride. This post showcases my first ensemble from the series – the edgy "Gore" bikini line by Spoiled, perfectly paired with their statement thigh-high boots featuring a unique vertebrae heel. I kept the accessories minimal, opting for a delicate nose ring from LittleFish and a chic necklace by Kibitz. The ensemble was completed with Spoiled's "Skully Hand" gloves. The striking makeup look was a collaborative effort by Warpaint, Adored, and Jack Spoon. The pose was expertly choreographed by OMY.
