These cubs were not at all stressed by our closeness. Mom was just out of the shot, keeping a close eye on us, though.

Four wolf cubs, Espace Zoologique, Saint Martin La Plaine, France
Breeding occurs between February and April, only the alpha male and female will mate and she will give birth to the pups alone in her den. After the first month, they emerge from the den with her. It is the responsibility of all the wolves in the pack to help to raise the offspring. They will take turns caring for them while other members go out to hunt. Even with the entire pack caring for them, less than half of all pups survive the first year.
The pups in a wolf pack have a great deal of freedom and privileges. In fact, they are often able to do more and to benefit more than some of the adults within the pack that have a very low ranking.
When they are about two years old they are mature, and they may stay within their own pack and be given a place on the social ladder or they can also leave that pack and go to form one of their own. Males often leave while females choose to stay in the pack they were born into.

⭐️Thank you in Advance for your kind ‘Faves’ Visits and Comments they are so very much appreciated. 👍
I cannot always ‘Thank’ everyone individually, for their Visits and ‘Faves’ however, I will always try to respond and thank all those that leave a ‘Comment’. If I do not reply to your 'Comment', it is not because I am ignoring you, it's because I have not seen the 'Comment'.
Your 'Comments' do not always appear in 'Notifications' or Flickr mail, so, I am sorry for any delay in responding. Often your 'Comment' is only spotted 'On the Page' on the day, that I see it. (seen ONLY when replying to someone HAS 'Commented' on the image, and I see a notification)
Three cubs from a litter of six. They moved to a new den a few days after this, probably because of the presence of photographers.
In the river at the first return of salmon. When that sow caught a salmon those cub s came running. These two cubs had been on the river bank howling, the most loud god awful cry's, and the sow would catch a fish, take a bite and the cub would pounce on the carcass and rip it apart.

This lioness (panthera leo) and her cubs were relaxing, on open land, in the early morning sun, when I saw them. The photograph was taken during a visit to the Kalahari Desert, in Botswana. I have no doubt these animals would have moved to a less exposed location as the day became hotter.
My neighbour (down by the bottom of my garden) managed to get a closer shot of two of the six cubs, as they venture out.

How cute these youngsters can be? We got lucky, since this was first time this year that these cubs were at the hides that we were.
There once was a young pride
of cubs
who referred to their elders
as 'bubs'.
This was okay
to folks in the fray
Who referred to the young cubs
as grubs.

Two brown bear cubs taken in Alaska. The mother brown bear was just to the right of these cubs. The standing cub was watching another bear in the distance!
