Operation ALTAIR

Her Majesty?s Canadian Ship Iroquois, has handed over command of Combined Task Force (CTF) 150, and has currently started their transit home.

 

The Canadian Task Force was composed of a three-ship Task Group, two Helicopter Air detachments and a Command and ground support teams. The 850 Canadian sailors, soldiers, and air men and women that were part of the Task Force deployed on the six-month mission in April 2008.

 

TFAS is the fourth rotation of Operation Altair, Canada?s maritime contribution to Operation Enduring Freedom, the global Campaign Against Terrorism.

 

CTF 150, a naval coalition typically comprised of ships from nations such as France, Germany, Pakistan, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States, operates in the Red and North Arabian Seas, Strait of Hormuz, Gulf of Aden, Horn of Africa and Gulf of Oman and seeks to provide security and stability to the maritime environment in the region.
