In #Greece ~ Living an adventure!!! We stayed 1 week in #Thessaloniki to be hosted again by the english girl who gave us a lift in Serbia (small world :) ) and we helped her organization working as volonteers in a warehouse for refugees camps... Very good experience! On the road again, hitchhiking to #Halkidiki with no plan for the night. A turkish-chilian-dutch family met on the beach Vourvourou offered us to host us in their rented appartment! :) The next night we slept on "orange beach". One of the most wonderful beach of Greece, #blue and clear water with fishes... to be followed! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vive l'avanture!!! Nous sommes restés 1 semaine à Thessalonique hébergés par notrecopine anglaise qui nous avait pris en autostop en Serbie (le monde est petit haha)! Nous avons travaillé en tant que volontaire pour son organisation dans un entrepôt pour les camps de réfugiés. Belle expérience! Nous continuons notre chemin en autostop à Halkidiki sans aucun plan pour la nuit, et une famille turco-chilienne-hollandaise rencontrée sur la plage #Vourvourou nous invite à dormir dans leur appartement AirBnB! La nuit suivante nous dormons à la belle étoile sur "la plage orange", paradisiaque. In #Bulgaria 🇬🇧~🇫🇷 Near #Bansko you can see #bears ! There are a lot of wild bears in Bulgaria, but you can't approach them of course. Few people take baby bears from the wild and torture them to become "dancing bears" to make the show in the street. Most of them were seriously injured (3 legs for example). This tradition is almost over, because some organisations like Brigitte #Bardot rescued them and placed them in a natural park. They can't live in the wild anymore. The visit if free, based on tips! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Proche de Bansko, on peut visiter le "dancing bears park", où quelques dizaines d'ours arrachés à leur vie sauvage pour devenir des "danceurs de rue" reposent maintenant tranquillement dans ce parc créé en partie par la fondation Brigitte Bardot. La plupart avaient été gravement blessés (amputés ou autre). Cette tradition maintenant considérée comme barbare est en phase de disparaitre. In #Greece ~ Relaxing in a natural hot water :) Follow-up! Our last day and night in Greece, we decided to visit #Loutra #Eleftheron, an abandonned former thermal complex. The natural hot spring is still working, so it is free! After our bath, we went back on the road to hitchhike, with no plan for the night. A car stopped with 3 people going for dinner in a taverna and invited us. When we explained our story, the guy told us "I know you..." ! Indeed, we sent him a couchsurfing request to stay at his appartment in #Serres, but he declined as he was in his summer house in #Halkidiki. He finally offered us his couch in his summer house! What a crazy coincidence to meet someone we cantacted in #couchsurfing on the road! The next day, direction BULGARIA, our 10th step :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ La suite! Notre dernier jour et nuit en Grèce, nous sommes allés à Loutra Eleftheron, un ancien complexe thermal abandonné. Mais sa source d'eau chaude souffrée fonctionne toujours bien, donc c'est gratuit! Après notre bain, retour sur la route en autostop sans plan précis pour la nuit. Dans la première voiture qui s'arrête, 3 jeunes qui allaient manger dans une taverne et nous ont invités. Quand on leur explique notre aventure, le gars nous dit "je vous connais"... En effet, il nous raconte qu'on l'a contacté sur couchsurfing pour cette nuit à Serres, mais il a refusé car il était en vacances à Halkidiki dans sa maison familiale d'été. Au final, il nous a offert son canapé dans sa maison d'été! Quelle coïncidence folle de rencontrer en autostop une personne qu'on avait contacté sur couchsurfing quelques jours apparavant! [In #Bulgaria] We Hitchhiked a plane (ultralight)! ~
We have been hosted near #Kazanlak by a family who gave us the keys f their countryside house, full of organic fruits and vegetables in the garden. We took care of their garden and we cooked the french apple pie "tarte tatin". But the best surprise has been the last days, when the father, ultralight #planes pilot, gave us a #fly lift! we are so happy to have had this chance, our stay in Bulgaria has an incredible ending :) Direction Turkey now.

Nous avons été hébergés proche de Kazanlak par une famille qui nous a laissé les clés de leur maison de campagne, avec leur jardin rempli de fruits et légumes bio! Nous avons pris soin de leur jardin et cuisiné une tarte tatin. Mais quelle merveilleuse surprise quand le père, pilote d'#ULM nous a offert un vol chacun! Nous sommes très heureux d'avoir eu cette chance, notre séjour en Bulgarie se termine en beauté! Direction la Turquie maintenant.

#Athena #temple in #Assos #archaeological site. After Istanbul we went to Bursa, Canakkale, Ayvacik, always welcomed in amazing turkish hosts :) Hitchhiking is easy, and we often use a lot google translation with our hitchhiking drivers ;)

🇫🇷 Temple d'Athena au site archéologique d'Assos. Après Istanbul, nous sommes allés à Bursa, Canakkale, Ayvacik, toujours accueillis par de supers hôtes turcs. L'autostop est facile, et google traduction est de sortie avec nos chauffeurs d'autostop bien souvent ;)

In #Bulgaria 🇬🇧~🇫🇷 One side is soft water, the other side is salted water! We went to Burgas, still hitchhiking, for a volonteering mission. We worked 3 weeks in a hostel managing everything in exchange of bed and food. We loved it! During our days off, we have visited around. This beach of #Sinemorets is amazing, with the sand in between 2 different waters... Watch our 2min VLOG #3 to see more! (link in the bio) :)

D'un côté de l'eau douce, de l'autre de l'eau salée! Nous sommes allés à Bourgas, toujours en autostop, pour faire du volontariat dans une auberge de jeunesse en échange du lit et du couvert. 3 semaines à prendre en charge toutes les tâches d'une auberge, nous avons adoré! Pendant nos jours de congés nous avons exploré les environs. Cette plage à Sinemorets est incroyable, son sable au milieu de 2 eaux différentes... Regarde notre VLOG #3 de 2min pour en voir plus! In #Greece 🇬🇧~🇫🇷 #Cats and #Sunset . Greek streets are full of dogs and cats, like this one on the roof of the village during a usual but wonderful sunset ! We are still in #Zitsa, the village where we help a family for babysitting! We stayed longer than planned because they need help, and we prefered to not travel with the hot days :) We should leave in 1 week, direction Bulgaria before Turkey, still to avoir the heat! (check our last video, linked in our bio :)) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ #chats et #coucherdesoleil . Les rues en Grèce sont remplies de chiens et chats, comme celui-ci lors d'un magnifique crépuscule. On est encore à Zitsa pour garder la petite fille de nos hôtes. On reste plus longtemps que prévu car on ils ont besoin d'aide, et pour éviter de voyager en autostop avec nos sacs par les grandes chaleurs! In #Bulgaria ~ Near #Bansko in #Rila is the most famous #orthodox #monastry ! we visited it in our way to Sofia, hitchhiking as usual :) It is free, except some parts, and the view is amazing! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Proche de Bansko, à Rila, se trouve le monastère orthodoxe le plus connu. In #Bulgaria 🇬🇧~🇫🇷 Do you feel #vertigo? Our first couchsurfing host in Bulgaria is ... an english man in #Bansko :) where we could stay in a private appartment! We had the chance to hike in the #Pirin #mountains around the lakes. Very beautiful ! You can also find free natural hot springs around Bansko :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Qui a le #vertige ? Notre premier hôte couchsurfing en Bulgarie est un anglais à Bansko. Nous sommes restés dans un de ses appartements privés! nous avons fait une randonnée dans le fameux massif alentour du Pirin. Magnifique! [1st YEAR TRAVEL SUMMARY]
Hello everybody! It has been 1 year we are on the road now, and we can have a first overview !
- 11 countries, from France to Turkey,
- 15324 km (we didn’t count the distances by walking, or flying a delta plane with a host!)
- 92% by #hitchhiking,
- 361 cars, trucks, pickups stopped.
- MONEY: 3,50€/day/person, without sacrificing and cooking French for our hosts. 2,50€/day/person if we don’t count Italy.
- 104 different hosts. We will give it back one day!
This is just the beginning!

BILAN de notre 1ere année d'aventure!
- 11 pays, de l’Italie à la Turquie,
- 15 324 km au compteur, sans compter les distances faites à pieds, ou en ULM! (voir VLOG4 Bulgarie)
- 361 véhicules se sont arrêtés,
- 92% du trajet fait en autostop,
- BUDGET= 3,50€/jour/personne, en ne se privant de rien – et en cuisinant français pour nos hôtes. Mais si en plus on retire l’Italie du calcul, le compteur passe à 2,50€/jour/personne
- 104 hôtes différents, nous le rendrons un jour!

[In #Turkey] ...Sunset in Istanbul... ~
After a long day hitchhiking from Bulgaria to Istanbul, 30min walking at the huge border, we arrived in this city placed on 2 continents. This shot is taken from the Asian part, and we can see the European side with the famous Saint #Sofia and the #blue #mosque. For the first time in 1 year of travel, we had a lot of hosting offers from our couchsurfing public trip!

La journée d'autostop depuis la Bulgarie jusqu'à Istanbul fut longue, avec 30min de marche rien qu'à la frontière! Cette ville s'étend sur 2 continents, le photo est prise depuis la partie asiatique, et on voit la partie européenne avec la fameuse Sainte Sofia et la mosqué bleue. Pour la première fois depuis 1 an de voyage, nous avons eu plusieurs offres d'hébergement avec notre "public trip" sur couchsurfing! Le début de notre séjour dans ce pays s'annonce bien :)

[In #Turkey] Volonteering in a olive farm [~]

8 days of #volonteering #Workaway in a #olive #farm, far from all city comfort; no running water, no internet. Very resting for our minds. Happy and simple life, where we learnt to make our own bulgur with our organic wheat and 2 heavy stones, or how to taste olive oil to know if they are rich in nutritional quality etc. Always hitchhiking, 5h of work per day in exchange of food and bed :)

8 jours de volontariat dans une ferme oléïcole, loin de toutes comodités citadines; pas d'eau courante, ni d'Internet. Très reposant pour l'esprit. Une vie simple et heureuse chez nos hôtes, où nous avons appris à faire du boulgour à l'ancienne avec leur blé bio et 2 grosses pierres, ou comment déguster des huiles pour savoir si elles sont bonnes nutritivement etc. Toujours en autostop, 5h de travail par jour en échange du lit et du couvert :)

[1st YEAR TRAVEL SUMMARY]
Hello everybody! It has been 1 year we are on the road now, and we can have a first overview !
- 11 countries, from France to Turkey,
- 15324 km (we didn’t count the distances by walking, or flying a delta plane with a host!)
- 92% by #hitchhiking,
- 361 cars, trucks, pickups stopped.
- MONEY: 3,50€/day/person, without sacrificing and cooking French for our hosts. 2,50€/day/person if we don’t count Italy.
- 104 different hosts. We will give it back one day!

BILAN de notre 1ere année d'aventure!
- 11 pays, de l’Italie à la Turquie,
- 15 324 km au compteur, sans compter les distances faites à pieds, ou en ULM! (voir VLOG4 Bulgarie)
- 361 véhicules se sont arrêtés,
- 92% du trajet fait en autostop,
- BUDGET= 3,50€/jour/personne, en ne se privant de rien – et en cuisinant français pour nos hôtes. Mais si en plus on retire l’Italie du calcul, le compteur passe à 2,50€/jour/personne
- 104 hôtes différents, nous le rendrons un jour!
