PERSONAL FUN FACT: One of the very first Barbie outfits that my sister and I ever owned was a shabby Crystal Barbie dress. Our grandparents, who worked at the Salvation Army back then, brought us several grubby, unwanted dolls that had been donated. Colleen got Dance Magic Barbie, aka Christine, who was wearing the Crystal Barbie gown. For years, I thought it must belong to Christine. One of the straps started to rip off when I was younger, so instead of sewing it back on, I cut it off...a decision I always regretted (I always did that when I was six or seven years old). As an adult, I was beyond thrilled to finally know who came in this mysterious iridescent gown, which I had owned for years. Nowadays, I feel like one of the most common outfits I come across from the 1980s is this Crystal Barbie one! I've found several over the years, but I will still never part with my old, forlorn one.
I've been wanting to film a video about my 80s Barbie dolls for a while now. I finally got around to doing it this week, as I needed to redress some of them in new clothes. It took me an hour to set this video up because there were so many dolls (136 to be exact). I also featured my 60s and 70s Barbies being that I store them in the same container. Barbies from the 1980s are most definitely my favorite decade to collect. I am obsessed with all the dolls and fashion packs I find! I must admit I have a terrible problem with hoarding duplicates...it is just too much fun, since there are so many awesome variations of them! I hope you enjoy this video and thank you again for all your support :)

I would like to know the correct number and get a closer look to the mint outfit but on the web I haven't found anyting even searching the # 2184 (that's the # that on the catalogue is referred to these fashions)....

PERSONAL FUN FACT: For what felt like years, I craved a Crystal Barbie, since I had owned her dress for most of my life. One of my sister and my first Barbie dolls, Dance Magic, came to us wearing a Crystal Barbie gown. In 2010/2011, I identified this dress, and was shocked to learn that it didn't come with our Dance Magic lady. A year later, sometime in June 2012, I found my very first Crystal Barbie, the one on the far left. She was part of a lot I bought on an outing with my cousin and his girlfriend. She like her friends, has burned hair, presumably from being blow dried. After many hair treatments, boil washes, and trims, her hair feels decent now. She doesn't have my favorite facial screening, but it is very noticeable. I could spot her in a line up any day!
My second Crystal Barbie was the second lady in this photo. She is also my favorite of the three in my collection. She is a timeless beauty who I relish each time I take her out of my 1980s Barbie container (I admit, I like to take extra time combing her hair, just so I can marvel at her beauty). I actually bought her for Loving You Barbie's skirt. One of the local sellers at my flea market put her out sometime in 2013. I remember that the seller even said that she was one of the prettiest Barbie dolls ever. Who wouldn't think this Barbie is gorgeous??? She has the sweetest face ever!
My third lady, who also happens to be third in this photo, was part of a sort of package deal during the fall of 2014. I had seen her, and her friends the previous summer in an old Barbie case. I had been tempted to purchase her and the others upon first glance, but the seller mistook them all for 60s Barbies (due to their body mold dates), and therefore wanted WAY too much money for them. But after a year, and a simple explanation that "1966" did not indicate year of release, the seller let me have the remaining dollies for a good deal (sadly a few of the dolls had sold by that time). I can tell her apart easily from her twin, being that her hair is in the early stages of decomposition. It's rather sticky on and off, but since adopting her and taking good care of her locks, I've definitely seen an improvement in her condition.

All of the earrings pictured here are some of my earlier pairs. I made them between 2012 and 2013. I didn't have a large selection of beads to choose from back then, so I mostly was stuck using little beads from Wal-Mart in a variety of colors. Even though I've actually revamped most of my old pairs of earrings, I actually love the simplicity of the ones in this collage. I like the funky colors I chose for my two Rockers dolls. Doctor Barbie, aka Julia, is wearing the very first pair of Barbie sized earrings I ever made! I brought her over my aunt's house back in 2012 when she first showed me how to size earrings for a doll. I made Julia's earrings that night. Even though they are really simple and plain, they match Julia's fashion pack perfectly. Plus, they are sentimental, so I'll probably never deconstruct them, even if Julia gets another pair in the future.

I feel like her hair was little bit shortened, but condition is great. Now here is her new Marilyn look.
