Why do you cry, young one ?
Has someone taken your toy ?
Or is it that your Momma wont let you play.
The game of lifting a heavy load of sand
with your bare and unfettered hands
On to your head so full of games.
You wear such precious adornments
of red and blue
A speckled frock from a country shop,
made just for you.
And what you carry on you even as you cry
It is that priceless gift of innocence.
Young one,
All you need is some restful sleep
And perchance to be dreaming a dream
Of all the games that you can play
And be free !

There is no permanent home for a large number of children. The parents work the construction sites as daily labour force and they move from place to place, wherever work takes them.
The children play.

Am I supposed to put my life on hold,
because you don't know how to act
and you don't know where your life is going?
Am I supposed to be torn apart,
broken hearted, in a corner crying?
Pardon me if I don't show it.

This is Linville Falls, located in North Carolina along in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This 45 foot waterfall was used at one time by Native Americans for executions but now the falls are a part of the National Park Service and are accessible from a trail that leads to the base of the falls where I got this shot.
I'll never let you see
The way my broken heart is hurting me
I've got my pride and I know how to hide
All my sorrow and pain
I'll do my crying in the rain
If I wait for stormy skies
You won't know the rain from the tears in my eyes
You'll never know that I still love you so
Though the heartaches remain
I'll do my crying in the rain
Raindrops falling from heaven
Could never take away my misery
But since we're not together
I pray for stormy weather
To hide these tears I hope you'll never see
Someday when my crying's done
I'm gonna wear a smile and walk in the sun
I may be a fool
But till then, darling, you'll never see me complain
I'll do my crying in the rain
I'll do my crying in the rain
I'll do my crying in the rain
I'll do my crying in the rain

This is the main entrance to the mosque... The carvings on it are very beautiful and can still be very clearly seen...
This Killdeer and its mate had two broods of young on this stretch of North Point this summer. Due to the popularity of this area of the lakeshore with beachgoers regularly visiting it, these two poor birds were constantly attempting, with their cries and 'broken' wing displays, to woo all intruders away from their nest, eggs, and young hatchlings. At the time of this image, I happened to find one of their newly hatched young hiding in the bushes and it was instinctively frozen in place on the ground to avoid attention. Hence the cry of its parent here to draw attention away from its vulnerable young.
I quietly captured some images of the hiding chick, and I may post one next in my photostream. I left the area after this encounter, so as to leave the family in peace. I believe that most of the young grew to adulthood successfully, as I saw many new Killdeer running around happily all summer :)
