M/V Sileas is a 52ft pinnace built in 1940 by the British Admiralty to serve as a tender carrying personnel and cargo to the Fleet's great battleships. Now retired from the Navy she is licenced to carry up to 50 passengers and runs cruises up and down the 28km long Loch Shiel from Glenfinnan at the Eastern end of the loch to Acharacle down the western end. It's a route that was operated commercially back in the 1960's before a road was pushed through to Acharacle, but now forms a route for a wildlife and scenic cruise taking in Glenfinnan Monument and viaduct, St Finnan's Green isle and various haunts where Golden and White Tailed sea eagles might be seen. The boat is captained by the genial Aly, an Egyptian man who found his way to this part of the world and would encourage you to partake of the vessel's catering and onboard bar whilst enjoying the magnificent scenery and the backstory of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion which started at Loch Shiel www.highlandcruises.co.uk/
