This cruet has been in my life for many years. As a pre-teen I remember thinking it would be a suitable Genie bottle. Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately, when I opened it there was no Genie inside. As I recall at the time, I wanted...
1) A million dollars
2) To be a famous actress
3) Three more wishes
My top two wishes were always changing but the third remained the same. Although, I believe requesting three more wishes would be out of the question and no Genie in their right mind would grant that one:)
What would you wish for if you could have three wishes?
Smiling girls and rosy boys
Come and buy my little toys
Monkeys made of gingerbread
And sugar horses painted red

If you follow my photostream, you may know that I collect 1:12 size miniatures, some of which have featured in past themes in the "Looking Close on Friday" and "Smile on Saturday" groups. I also publish a chapter of a novelised story every Sunday, called "Life at Cavendish Mews" www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/albums/72157715517132727 which focuses on the lives of two women: Lettice Chetwynd, interior designer and daughter of a Viscount, and Edith, her maid, set in London exactly a century ago today. Each week I upload a photo of my miniatures set up in a realistic setting accompanied by the latest chapter, often referred to lovingly by some of my devoted followers as my "Lettice stories". The intention is that one day I would like to publish them with the chapters accompanied by my photographic images. What you don’t know is that I often take photos of selected objects in isolation in the scene with the intention to use as smaller vignettes in my photo book as well. This comes from a Lettice Chetwynd Cavendish Mews story, when Lettice visits her friends Margot and Dickie Channon a pair of newlyweds at their Regency country house, "Chi an Treth" (Cornish for "Beach House") in Penzance. These apples are the centrepiece on the breakfast table the day after Lettice makes a surprise discovery in a storage cupboard in the old house.
The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 12th of August is "fake food". Being a miniatures collector, I am spoiled for choice, as I have a dizzying array of foods. Maria even chose one of my Cavendish Mews images for her gallery of examples for this theme, featuring a roast dinner made by English artisan Frances Knight, who used to be a chef, but now turns her talents to realistic 1:12 miniature food stuffs for collectors like me. I decided to choose these apples because they are so realistic looking. Made of polymer clay and then painted by hand, they are made by a 1:12 miniature specialist in Germany. The comport in which they stand is spun of real glass and was made by Beautifully Handmade Miniatures in Kettering in England. The toast rack, egg cruet set, cruet set and coffee pot were made by Warwick Miniatures in Ireland, who are well known for the quality and detail applied to their pieces. The eggs and the toast slices come from Kathleen Knight’s Doll House Shop in the United Kingdom. I hope you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile.

Excerpt from www.doorsopenontario.on.ca/burlington-1/st-johns-anglican...:
St. John's Anglican is the second-oldest Anglican church in Burlington. Founded in 1835, the congregation gathered in an old schoolhouse until the current building was completed. Visit during Doors Open for guided tours of the church and cemetery. There will be markers throughout the cemetery for notable people in Burlington’s history, including members of the locally famous Ireland family.
Excerpt from haltonpeel.ogs.on.ca/st-johns-anglican-burlington/:
In the early 1830’s, William Spence, Joseph Ireland, and J. Wettenhall petitioned the Bishop of Quebec for a new parish in Nelson (formerly Hannahsville). Services began in Bally Kilbeg, the schoolhouse, on November 15, 1835, conducted by Rev. Mr. Mack of St. Luke’s, Burlington.
On November 9, 1838, William McKay was named chairman of a building committee for a new church on three-quarters of an acre donated by Thomas Atkinson. The contract, let to William Grant, John Malcolm, and Alexander Brown for 378 pounds, was completed in 1842 for dedication by Rev. Dr. Thomas Green.
Some of the furniture installed in the new church were pews with gates at each end. They were auctioned to the parishioners at one pound each but were still subject to an annual rental fixed at the vestry meeting each year. Six pews were free and available to anyone.
One of the first donations was a communion service consisting of a chalice, two plates and two cruets given by the Stuart Mission Society in 1841.
In 1859, Rev. W. Hunter, assistant at St. Luke’s, took charge, followed by Rev. H. McCollom, Rev. E. Clark, and Rev. Canon W. Belt, until 1887, when it became associated with Waterdown.
After two years, St. John’s was united with Lowville and Nassagaweya, served in turn by Rev. Motherwell, Rev. Morton, and Rev. Seaman. After being closed for a year and a half and having lay readers for a short time, it was reunited with St. Luke’s in 1895.
In 1900, a new organ was purchased for $90.00 and new seats and carpets installed. In 1909, the beautiful chancel window was dedicated, a new ceiling put in and the roof shingled.
From 1910 till 1922, Nelson, Palermo and Omagh were united under Rev. Canon R. L. Weaver. From 1922 till 1975, St. John’s was reunited with Waterdown.
salt and pepper for Macro Mondays - they are in the shape of stylized birds. There's a faint blue cast, but less so on flickr than on my computer.

I saw how many round objects there are in our home, so, now that we are back on Winter time, it is dark very early, the weather's gone bad, I've had plenty of time to think and be creative in the studio once more.
Glass is one of the most difficult substances to photograph; my challenge is to use the reflections in a positive manner so that they add to the image.
I love using different oils and vinegars in the kitchen, so over the years these glass beauties have now become part of a collection, the first was the 'ball' one in front!
I wish you all a sweet day and thanx for your visit, always welcome, Magda, (*_*)

More playing about...the scooter believe it or not, is part of a cruet set, I love scooters and this was brought as a present.
I've isolated the scooter and applied a slight Fractalius filter effect to it and then pasted this over another iconic image.
I've moved to Instagram @cathygio1
This was scanned many years ago from a vintage magazine. Wouldn't it be fun to set a picnic table at a barbecue with all the onion dishware?

For the group Macro Mondays, this week's theme was "Hard Light". I waffled about what to photograph, and I couldn't find anything, so I finally stuck my hand in a box of stuff I packed up in 2017, vowing to photograph whatever I came up with. It turned out to be this little, slightly scratched up, crystal cruet. So, here is part of it, in Hard Light.
Now, last week, the theme was "Holes" and I took a photo through the tube of a garlic peeler, but Monday went by and I never remembered to post it, being busy with other things! So I am sticking that photo in the first comment, just to show it!
Happy Macro Monday everyone! HMM!
