There's my life before the pandemic...shooting shows, festivals, and embracing every moment while still working the same often stressful full time job. Then, after....reflection, more calm in some ways yet also far more anxious...a little isolated and far away from the maddening crowd.
Sometimes, I wonder if these two parts of me are actually the same human.
Life, if the me now could meet the me back then, I wonder what they would talk about....oh, probably still cats, music, films, books, politics, coffee, and modern art.

My all time favorite band James at the Corona Capital Festival in Mexico City. My brother with their teenagers, my wife and two kids were there. An unforgettable experience. This photo says it all. The band at the background, their singer Tim Booth doing crowdsurfing and that's me, with my younger son in my arms, enjoying the moment. Photo by my older son.
"We’ll take our chances
Take our chances
Burning down the houses
We’re surrounded
Take our chances
Get out of Kansas
Escape
Time to escape
Time to escape
It’s coming over the ridge past canyon trail
Smoke in the air
Woke me up in the night
That life we left behind
Racing, we’re racing down to those beautiful beaches
Put your foot down to the floor
Racing, we’re racing down to those beautiful beaches..."
I think that's how the expression goes. But seriously, I would not even be able to make it up there and withstand all of the crazy insanity that goes on and some people make it look easy and even pose..it's like what? How?

I'll be shooting this weekend for The Line of Best Fit and I am really excited about some of the established musicians like PJ Harvey but also a lot of newer musicians like Mitski, Cherry Glazerr, Kilo Kish, Madame Gandhi, Weyes Blood, Frankie Cosmos, Dawn Richard, Priests, Vagabon, and more!

Hi there, my name is Jinsei.
Let me try to describe myself... or at least, what I know about myself: I'd say that I'm a rather complicated person. But after all, aren't we all complicated?
I'm an easygoing person, unless you say or do something that's against my principles. I can't stand prejudices, about emo/goth/other scene's, race, background or whatever. I hate drunks and droggies.
If you want my honest opinion, I'll give it to you, no exceptions. I'm not a backstabber, I always speak my mind.
I don't love going out when you're speaking of discotheques or ordinairy parties. What I prefer are gigs and festivals. Because, even though I'm a girl, I do love mushpits, crowdsurfing en stagediving.
Strangely enough, I am afraid of the dark. So after a concert, there always has to be someone to walk me home. I'm working on this though.
Oh, and I'm the kind of person that still actully BUYS CD's and LP's. That's not being stupid, it's just a matter of respect. All those bands make the effort to provide us with good music, put all there time and energy in it... than it's only fair to give them the money they earn.
lazy post-concert day. note the lovely shiner on my arm, which is certainly my most intense concert injuries, but my entire left side is pretty dead. i'm not quite sure what from, but probably either the barrier when crowdsurfing or falling in the mosh pit. either way, pretty hardcore.
& only 360 days to go!

Went to Ptown on Friday for a show and did a quick 5 minute shoot with the wonderful We Are Fiction.
Their set was mint! Things wrecked and mics being smashed into foreheads, and kids crowdsurfing. I had fun!

Jehnny Beth is the lead singer of Savages and is also an actress most recently the social worker Marge in the film Anatomy of a Fall (recommended) but was also in a different French film I liked a lot called Paris, 13th district. She's an incredible human and talented in so many ways! Here she is crowd surfing in Chicago at the Cabaret Metro.

- Craig Owens
July 12, 2009 in Hartford, Connecticut
I met Paul Griffiths (and am on his twitter; looking kinda rough, but don't hate, it was raining), Foz, Craig Owens, You Me at Six, Ziggy, Pat Kirch, saw some incredible shows, and crowd surfed twice.
this photo is actually from last year's warped but I really love it.
I'm so sore and have never felt better.

There were a lot of crowd-surfing scenes at the Trivium concert in Omaha, Nebraska last night.
I see I have included the crystal chandelier in this pic; I think it is original since the venue (Sokol Auditorium, now The Admiral) built more than 95 years ago.

Live on Leo Laporte's SXSW Broadcast!
The night started out over at the Austin American Statesman Social Media Awards. I was a winner and got a cool little trophy - you can see it in the video below! While there, I met a bunch of interesting people... I'm always impressed at what a hub of social media Austin has become.
I was between parties and walking down the 6th street when along came Leo Laporte and his huge entourage. Leo has a big battery pack on his back, a camera, and a light. He carries around the contraption and broadcasts everything live to thousands of people on live.twit.tv.
To get a good view of his setup, AND to see how HUGE SXSW is here in Austin, see this amazing video of Leo crowd-surfing at the Diggnation event! He was live streaming the entire crowdsurfing event to thousands of people all over the world... very cool!
Anyway, I was walking down the street - and I said, "Hi Leo!". He didn't know who I was at first, but then, after talking to me for a bit, he remembered. I told him that I was, indeed, quite forgettable, and I certainly took no offense.
The group was Leo, Robert Scoble, Jeff Jarvis, Dane Golden, and a whole bunch of other people, including a small contingent from Rackspace. Anyway, we geeked out for a few minutes talking about HDR Photography... he mentioned this website, which then caused a crash when the TWIT Army attacked it. As you can tell, Leo could not have been nicer... a very cool guy.
After our little talk, they started talking a bit about SmugMug and Chris Makaskill -- if interested in finding out more, see my "SmugMug Review" here on the site.
Weird Things
One of the people I met tonight was Justin Robert Young, who has a show on the TWIT network, and runs a website called "Weird Things" with my friend Andrew Mayne (who Twitter-duced me to Justin). Be sure to check out their website if you'd like to see some cool and unexpected stuff!
Even better, he invited me along and then got me right into the Mashable Party, which had a line halfway around the block!

The drive to Milford Sound is probably the prettiest in the world. The landscapes were just outrageous. It's a 2-hour drive, but it took me about 5!
Along the way, the clouds and sun were doing some crazy things. I drove down to the beach to grab this scene, just at the perfect time.
