Crocheted Lady Kokeshi Dolls

The real traditional Kokeshi dolls feature oversized heads, are armless and legless, and are carved in Japan. They were vintage tourist gifts, brought home from hot springs visits. Various areas developed particular styles and characteristics within the genre.

I saw some of the wood originals that resembled elegant ladies. This pattern is inspired by them.

The pattern includes instructions for two sizes of dolls, several hair/wig styles and several obi (wrap/sash) styles. The smaller doll is about 6.5 inches using the hook and yarn size prescribed.

Beach Cover Up/Poncho:

Point-to-Point Tunisian Filet with Twisted Bead Drops.

A convertible layer edged as you go with “water droplets” (beaded twisted loops that require no pre-stringing). Yarn: DesigningVashti Lotus, 100g Crystal Blue color with small accent amounts of Teal Glimmer and Bamboo Green.

This is Tunisian filet crochet trimmed with moss stitch that can be seamed (by lacing) different ways for a convertible poncho, vest/tunic, shawl. The accent band can be worn in the front and back for a v-neck or at the shoulders for a bateau head opening.

Tiny Rabbit Hole team found a black square frame with nothing but emptiness in it. We brought it to a lake where we can see stars with naked eyes. Only in that level of darkness we can fill the emptiness with stark galactic mist. We also brought some colours of Yoda - green, grey and brown yarn to do the real magic! Just by mixing them around in the right ratio, a 3D image of Yoda Amigurumi is formed by the intertwining yarns using a technique call crochet. It seems we have created an Amigurumi artefact that’s like hologram but with better graphics. Yoda even showed off his custom lightsaber.

Triangular scarf and shawl crochet pattern pdf for all gauges and amounts of yarn at DesigningVashti.com.

The triangle is started in one side corner and worked in vertical rows (aka side to side or S2S) to the other side corner. This triangle is shallow and wide, the way I like 'em.

This set of dolls tells a love story of the school sweethearts and a kitty cat. They see each other in school, in class, and during breaks. Both are cat lovers, and they share a common dream – stay in love forever, till the end of time.

Both stand at approximately 13cm / 5.1” tall; the kitty cat is approximately 4cm / 1.6” tall.

This is my Bundle of Joy. I wrote the pattern for this. I have made several of these blankets. I am proud of my own creations. I hope to write another blanket pattern one day.

I designed these while creating a “final challenge” project for my Introduction to Slip Stitch Crochet class.

I like the easy and practical contrast of two kinds of back loop slip stitch, the optional experience of striping, and of shaping the ribbed cuff.

They are quick to make as is, or longer/wider. At the Chain Link conference, they will also keep a crocheter’s hands warm in the A/C!
