I've remastered this popular scarf in anticipation of the upcoming Tunisian crochet classes that I'm teaching nationally.

It's inspired by my Five Peaks Shawl, which was published in Interweave Crochet magazine, Spring 2010.

Like the shawl (except that it has a long rectangular scarf shape instead of an "L" -- the "five peaks"), you begin in one corner, and edge it with simple eyelets as you go.

One of the 'remastered' aspects is that I've found a new way to shape the left edge. I also think that this kind of design is the most fun if you can work from a diagram of it, instead of (or in addition to) a traditional pattern text.

I'm writing and diagramming this scarf now and it'll be available as a downloadable crochet pattern pdf at my DesigningVashti site. Please see my Flickr profile for direct links.

This lightweight Tunisian crochet net pattern is designed to collapse readily so that it can convert into a ring scarf, cowl, shoulder warmer, and even a head wrap. It's a simple shape that's fast to crochet and can do so much!

Another great thing about it is that it uses up very little yarn. Even the largest size (Plus size 5X) requires no more than 2 skeins of yarn.

The Smokestack Vest pattern is written for eight sizes, from Small to Plus size 5X, and is downloadable from the Designingvashti shop and Ravelry.

The Crochet Crowd Juicy Fruits Afghan Summer Challenge

My newest crochet pattern for Fall 2011: two kinds of slip stitches are worked in short rows. The way the two kinds of stitches interact creates a self-shaping, form-fitting neck warmer: stretchy and snug at the neck, drapes elegantly at the shoulders.

This was such fun to make that I created a free introductory pattern, which serves as a stepping-stone to this one. It's called "Slip Slope Scarf" (uses 1 kind of slip stitch to create a simple scarf).

For both pattern pdf's, please see my Flickr profile for direct links to my Ravelry and DesigningVashti sites.
