My friend Andrew is a talented artist and sculptor who happens to create heads for action figures. Over the summer I decided I needed to practice my studio lighting and thought I should start with models that didn't move, so I convinced him to let me photograph his portfolio of work. This little guy is about an inch tall, and at that small scale, moving the studio lights even slightly made a dramatic difference. Holy frustration! So much for taking the easy way out. But in the end, after an afternoon of fussing, snapping, and fussing some more, I can now say 'I've shot rock stars and superheros,' and it's kinda sorta mostly true.

I had this up on the other flickr... I've always loved this picture because this jacket (that I had painstakingly stenciled the Crimson Ghost and Marilyn Monroe on -with handmade stencils) was stolen from the back of my '78 VW Rabbit just days after this was taken.

Joey Image joined the Misfits in November 1978 just before Bobby Steele did. He was the drummer for both the Horror Business and Night of the Living Dead sessions. He left the band In December 1979 after their brief tour of England.
Flashforward to Oct 25, 2000 and new Misfits members Michale Graves and Dr Chud abruptly quit the band mid-tour. Joey Image is called by Jerry Only and Doyle to drum for the Misfits show in Fort Lauderdale that following friday night the 27th.
I was at the show and it was awesome seeing 3 original Misfits in concert together. Joey Image obviously didn't know any of their new material on such short notice so they played all of their old classic songs.

My Bieber/Misfits joke design got ripped off again. This person thought that if they just flipped the image it wouldn't be noticeable. If they were going to just use my exact drawing they should have used my lettering as well!
He's a well known artist specializing in horror and classic movie monsters. Pictured here with his artwork on the foldout Misfits "American Psycho" CD cover.
