A cultural emblem of the Toraja the wooden statues (tau tau) represents dead people and ever-protecting the living relatives or descendants.
I believe this to be an Apheloria virginiensis corrugata. A giant cyanide secreting millipede.

I walk by the cemetery every morning on my way to work. This morning the fog made for a beautifully morbid atmosphere. Like those old 1950's/60's Gothic horror movies. Shot with the Cosina Exakta 24mm F2.8 MC.

I've always thought this tree looked creepy, as if it should be in the yard of a haunted house. Instead it is located at an overlook in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.

The caged skeleton seems to be a popular Halloween character, although (because?) it is perhaps the eeriest one... I shot this scene serveral years ago in a horror museum in Sienna, Italy. I excavated the raw file with the hope to produce a dark, spooky image thanks to a little bit of magic and post-processing.
