In August of 2019, two women tourists reported that they were snapping pictures one night near the Chicago riverfront when they were approached by a pair of alien-like creatures who emitted a strange glow and asked if they had any spare change. At the time, local authorities discounted the report, but a blurry, third-party photo that was purportedly taken just before the encounter has recently surfaced, lending an air of credibility to the story.

Cheating or a cool feature?

The pictures are mine, just taken at different times ....

So then everything is fine?

Well, it does matter with the credibility of a picture, but why should not a photographer play around a bit as long as he informs about the deception ......?

As I go through a difficult time of transition in my life with Alzheimer's slowly erasing the man that my husband once was to the sledgehammer horror of the Trump administration erasing the values and credibility of my country, my garden still gives me hope for the future. When I see the miracle of these Hellebores bringing such beauty to the world as they bloom out of the dark earth, I rejoice in the small miracles of daily life.

Well here is Santa in a bit of a pickle , as we all know it seems this winter is a winter of Walk Outs by the workers in all manner of jobs . It turns out now that even the Reindeer have gone Trot About and are refusing to pull the sleigh this year - sub standard grub being dished up and having to work in severe cold all the time - they have just had enough !!

So the thing is Santa has to resort to desperate measures to do his annual parcel run - Light Bulb moment !!

He spots the empty Jumbo jet flying on an test flight after a maintenance overhaul , so off to hi-jack this plane just for the night , no pilot could turn down the Santa Run on the 24th - that will have to be a first !!

Santa explains to the pilot that there will be no wear and tear on the plane as the Reindeer Dust does all the heavy lifting and propulsion - you can even hover where needed when it is time to go down any chimneys . What may prove difficult is keeping the Jumbo invisible while hovering ( Oh for a cloaking device ) !!

There is one thing though , we do not want any incidents en-route , Santa featuring on an episode of ------------

Nat Geo's "Air Crash Investigation " is not going to be very good for his credibility !!

The Ankerwycke Yew is an ancient yew tree close to the ruins of St Mary's Priory, the site of a Benedictine nunnery built in the 12th century, near Wraysbury in Berkshire, England. It is a male tree with a girth of 8 metres (26 ft) at 0.3 metres.[1] The tree is at least 1,400 years old,[2] and could be as old as 2,500 years.[3]

On the opposite bank of the River Thames are the meadows of Runnymede and this tree is said to have been witness to the signing of Magna Carta. The tree is also said to be the location where Henry VIII courted Anne Boleyn in the 1530s.[3]

Here the confederate Barons met King John, and having forced him to yield to the demands of his subjects they, under the pretext of securing the person of the King from the fury of the multitude, conveyed him to a small island belonging to the nuns of Ankerwyke [the island], where he signed the Magna Carta.

— J. J. Sheahen, 1822.[4]

There is some justification for the theory that the Ankerwycke Yew could be "the last surviving witness to the sealing of the Magna Carta 800 years ago".[5] "In the 13th century, the landscape would have been different as the area was probably rather marshy as it was within the flood plain of the Thames. The Ankerwycke Yew is on a slightly raised area of land (therefore dry) and with the proximity of the Priory perhaps both lend some credibility to this claim."[6]

The Ankerwycke Yew is situated on lands managed by the National Trust. In 2002 it was designated one of fifty Great British Trees[7] by The Tree Council.

A photo of restaurants and drinking places constructed under the girder of old railway tracks in Shinbashi (新橋).

Shinbashi is known as a district for Salarymen which is a Japanglish word meaning people who work in a company or an organisation for a monthly salary. White-collar workers in Kasumigaseki bureaucratic district, Marunouchi / Ootemachi business districts as well as newly developed Shiodome Siosite are the principal clientele for the drinking places in Shinbashi.

Shinbashi is an entertainment district in Minato City but its character is quite different from those of Akasaka and Roppongi in the same city where they meet people for business talks or for showing off their knowhow, capacity, credibility, wealth etc.

In contrast, Shinbashi is for the same people to meet close friends, complain about their customers, criticise their boss etc. to release their frustration (^_^;

Unlike Akasaka, Roppongi as well as Ginza in Chuuou City where bills are often paid at corporate expense, bills tend to be paid in Shinbashi at salarymen's own expense.

It means bills are cheaper in Shinbashi.

Under-the-girder (ガード下 Gaado-shita) restaurants in Tokyo are now attracting tourists for its very Japanese ambience, which is the polar opposite of Akasaka and Roppongi where the international ambience is attracting Japanese youth.

Lake Urcos is known as the lake where the Incas were hiding a “golden chain”.

The Spanish chronics say that Huascar emptied the lake by constructing a tunnel, with a building on the lake’s seabed, where he stored large quantities of gold and flooded the lake again in order to hide away the gold from his brother, with whom he was at war. The Spaniards gave that much credibility to the story that they attempted themselves to dig a tunnel and empty the lake, which was frustrated when they hit hard rock that did not permit further digging.

2 posts today... I took a silly amount of shots at the BSB as I was doing a lot of experimenting... most where dud's but I have learnt a lot in examining why they where dud's... photographing bikes whilst similar in technique to cars is a lot harder. Many of my pans I did at 1/125 or slower I think are more about luck than skill... with bikes I'd have got a lot more keepers shooting my base pan on 1/250... especially on the start finish straight which I think shot from the middle of the circuit gives the best backgrounds. That said... when it does work even if it more by luck it does give the best and pleasing results.... and maybe just maybe the best strategy is to shoot many knowing that when it does work you will get a more pleasing shot... Its defo a higher risk strategy... but this and a few other shots does give the theory some ounce of credibility! What do you think... a bit of me thinks 20 great shots out of 4500+ shots is better than 300 ok shots out of 4500+... and what do I need 300 shots for anyway!

°°°°°°°°°°

The professional photography sector is still marked by the underrepresentation of women, especially in the most visible areas such as press, publishing, or advertising.

Women photographers often face gender stereotypes, questions about their legitimacy, and doubts about their skills—sometimes reinforced by internalized biases (lack of self-confidence, difficulty networking, etc.).

The attractiveness of a woman can, in some cases, exacerbate these prejudices, as some colleagues or clients may be more inclined to reduce her professional credibility to her appearance rather than her actual abilities !

TRIESTE

The large thaler of Maria Teresa, a monument that from today gives a new face to Piazza Ponterosso, is the large-scale reproduction of a coin that, in fact, changed the face of the entire city during the Habsburg rule. Symbol of the economic and commercial prosperity achieved by Trieste at the time, it was widely used in international trade when Trieste was the master as the main port of the Austro-Hungarian Empire between the second half of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, but perhaps not everyone knows that it is still produced by the Vienna mint (which has issued more than 49 million) and is still used in Africa and the Middle East. Between 1751 and 2000, some 389 million pieces were minted.

Originally, the thaler brought the fame of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria to the world, who reigned in Austria, Hungary and Bohemia from 1740 to 1780 and under her rule Trieste saw its population and wealth increase exponentially. In 1753 Austria signed a treaty with the Duchy of Bavaria which defined the fine silver content of thalers and the coins produced thereafter were called 'convention thalers'. Convention to which many other states, including the Republic of Venice, complied, thus consolidating the credibility and prestige of the currency.

Since Maria Theresa's death in 1780, the date on the thaler has not changed and the coin has been minted by mints around the world, including those of Birmingham, Bombay, London, Paris, Rome and Utrecht. It was one of the first currencies used in the United States, in fact the etymology and assonance with the word "dollar" derives from it.

A joyful run in the neighborhood green space.

Todd's Theory on Green Spaces

I've mentioned these green spaces before, sprinkled throughout the neighborhoods, providing a place for people to enjoy sports, or gatherings or whatever. I don't know this for a fact, but I'm guessing they're also used as a means of water runoff management. The green spaces all seem to be lower than street level. And after a monsoon or heavy rain the green spaces can get flooded. So my theory is that since water doesn't get absorbed quickly into the rocky soil of the desert, these green spaces provide a temporary reservoir for runoff after a big rain, limiting street and home flooding. I've also noted that the green spaces tend to have drains in the lower areas giving more credibility to my theory. I'll have to find a city planner or suburban civil engineer and ask someday.

Pensavo e intravvedevo,

Each life converges to some centre

Expressed or still;

Exists in every human nature

A goal,

Admitted scarcely to itself, it may be,

Too fair

For credibility's temerity

To do.

Adored with caution, as a brittle heaven,

To reach

Were hopeless as the rainbow's raiment

To touch,

Yet persevered toward, surer for the distance;

How high

Unto the saints' slow diligence

The sky!

Ungained, it may be, by a life's low venture,

But then,

Eternity enables the endeavoring

Again.

Street Credibility: A quality that makes you likely to be accepted by ordinary young people who live in towns and cities because you have the same fashions, styles, interests, culture, or opinions:

Taunton, Somerset,UK.

Three years ago I published an image like this under the title Incubus. This was the text going with it:

"This is the tool, a pitchfork, that the man who wishes to be the British Prime Minister wants to use in order to drive out the "great incubus", namely the European Union. Words matter. "Incubus" is a term taken from religious language. It describes the Devil entering you sexually. When Mr Boris Johnson conjures up the scenario of the EU f...g the UK from behind and that he would "pitchfork" it off the back of the British people [BBC interview, 24/6/19] you know what you have to expect. You have been warned."

Today, Mr Johnson resigned from office. His incompetence and dishonesty caused great damage inside and outside of the UK. Those who supported him and swept him into power have to ask themselves how they are going to regain credibility.

The Pegasus Emblem

According to one version of the Greek legend, Pegasus, the winged horse, was born from the neck of the gorgon, Medusa, after Perseus had severed her head. Rising heavenward to Helicon, the home of the Muses, he became a symbol of virtue and creative inspiration. The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple reflects the sentiment in its Latin motto, originally Volat alta ad sidera virtus and more recently Volat ad aethera virtus (virtue flies to the heavens).

Visitors to the Inner Temple, unable to miss the ubiquitous symbol of the Pegasus on buildings throughout the Inn, frequently seek the origin of the emblem. Would that we knew! Without definitive evidence, several theories have been put forward. One holds that the Inn adapted the design from one of the Knights Templars' seals, the image of two knights seated on one horse, which is reproduced in the bronze statue by Nicola Hicks on Ptolemy Dean's Millennium Column in Church Court. It is not known whether the Templars aimed to indicate by the two knights sharing a horse the original poverty of the order or the charity and brotherly love that it embodied. Either way, it is possible that the two knights came to represent the wings of the Inner Temple's flying horse. Some credibility is lent to the hypothesis by the Middle Temple's subsequent adoption of another Templar seal image, the lamb and flag. Another interpretation assigns the origins of the flying horse to an image on the tiles in the Temple Church, which showed a single mounted knight holding a shield with bars, which might have resembled a wing.

A more commonly held view is that the choice of Pegasus emblem dates from the 1561 Christmas revels, when Lord Robert Dudley acted the part of Prince Pallaphilos, governor of the Inner Temple and patron of the fictional order of the Pegasus. As Master of the Queen's Horse in real life, it is likely that the use of the Pegasus symbol in the revels was designed in his honour. Representations of the flying horse were widely used by the Inn thereafter, both in revelry and as an official armorial device. This ancient usage was confirmed by the College of Arms in 1967, endorsing the Inner Temple's right to use a silver Pegasus on an azure (light blue) background - Azure a Pegasus salient argent - as its device. Whatever its origin, the Pegasus emblem is here to stay.

Some street skating action from London's South Bank. A heavily graffiti laden area by the River Thames where people can happily enjoy their past time without fear of people complaining. I was trying to get a pan action going but have managed a mere blur. Still looks ok I think though.

I'm lead to believe this move is called an aciddrop. Feel free to correct me due my complete lack of street credibility or coolness. Same with the term "vert", although I'm more confident on this one because of my time in Santa Monica.

Spotted in a the garden of a house overlooking the beautiful Mother Booby's bay beach at Constantine Bay Cornwall... I am a little (err very actually )

shortsighted and thought the bloke in the garden (out of shot ) was happily watching my dog Merry play with his Cocker Spaniel.. The dog was actually a Merry look a like lol and my little Merry close by my feet. Jonathan said he was so surprised that I ignored the guy who was staring at me as I usually won't go within yards of a private property lol.....

Another iphone shot, could be shooting down all credibility of being an amatuer photographer but it would have been rude not to use Jonathans present to me..apologies to the house owner if you look at Flickr :))

Sadhus, ascetic holy men, have been integral to Indian society for centuries. Rooted in Hindu traditions, they renounce worldly possessions and dedicate their lives to spiritual pursuits. Sadhus embody detachment, austerity, and devotion, serving as spiritual guides, healers, and custodians of religious knowledge. They play crucial roles in performing rituals, blessings, and providing spiritual counsel to devotees. Beyond Hinduism, Sadhus are also revered figures in Jainism and Buddhism, symbolizing the pursuit of enlightenment and liberation from worldly desires.

However, the revered status of Sadhus has led to the emergence of impostors who exploit people's faith for personal gain. Some individuals masquerade as Sadhus, seeking alms, donations, or wealth under false pretenses. These fake Sadhus tarnish the reputation of genuine practitioners, eroding trust and credibility in the spiritual community. Despite efforts to regulate and authenticate Sadhus, the prevalence of impostors remains a challenge in Indian society.

While many Sadhus uphold the principles of renunciation and service, the presence of fraudulent practitioners underscores the complex interplay between spirituality, faith, and human nature in Indian society.

Read all. It's some of them are a little far out there, but most of them are either in progress or are already accomplished.

Congratualtions Fellow Americans. We are living in a communist America.

And for credibility, as far as I know, type in Communist Goals (1963) Congressional Record-Appendix. pp. A34-A35 January 10, 1963. You'll get about 5 pages of similar sites stating the same list.

Feel free to flamewar.

“The term (political correctness) first appeared in Marxist-Leninist vocabulary following the Russian Revolution of 1917. At that time it was used to describe adherence to the policies and principles of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (that is, the party line).” – Encyclopedia Britannica

The communists killed millions and millions of their people in order to create a utopian society based on equality. In communism, one must be “politically correct.” If you say something wrong you might disappear in the night, never to be seen again. Of course, self-censorship and voluntary compliance are preferred by the regime. Indoctrination keeps an individual within the proper ideological bounds of the state.

“Restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions. It is the one un-American act that could most easily defeat us.” – William Douglas

Many cannot recognize the threat of censorship, because they are ignorant of the crimes of communism. The public is more aware of the atrocities of the Nazis, as opposed to the atrocities of the communists. This is what happens when universities are bastions of Marxism, and professors are fond of Karl Marx. (Karl Marx and Frederick Engels wrote The Communist Manifesto). My grandpa, who went through the Great Depression, used to say, “People go to university to become socialists.” So this stuff is nothing new! This is what leftists call the “long march through the institutions.” The plan was to infiltrate the institutions of the West in order to transform them from the inside out. The Long March of the 1960s sowed the doctrines of critical theory (neo-Marxism). (Critical theory came out of the Frankfurt School). These seeds produced various kinds of critical theory: critical race theory, queer theory, postcolonial/decolonial theory, feminist theory, critical environmental theory, and critical pedagogy. Our children are being taught these subversive ideologies, even though they are rooted in evil. The fruits of these ideologies have produced mass death and misery. They gave us Stalin’s Great Purges and Mao’s Great Leap Forward. Indeed, the communists regulated speech, and millions died.

“Censorship reflects a society’s lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime.” – Potter Stewart

Regulating hate speech is undemocratic; it is rooted in totalitarianism. Regulating hate speech is a way of enforcing the politically correct doctrine of the day. It suppresses free speech, and it suppresses open dialogue. It suppresses critical thinking, and it suppresses creativity. And it will eventually lead to the criminalization of ideological opposition.

“Misinformation, disinformation, hate speech and other risks to the information ecosystem are fueling conflict, threatening democracy and human rights, and undermining public health and climate action.” – United Nations

The West is losing its freedom of speech. People in England are being arrested for social media posts. In Germany, they are trying to ban a political party. We saw Western governments colluding with big tech to censor dissenting views during COVID-19. Various politicians want to fight misinformation and disinformation. The European Union also wants to crackdown on what it deems as misinformation and disinformation. What they are doing, however, is fighting against freedom of speech—against freedom.

“The proliferation of misinformation and disinformation threatens to erode the credibility of public institutions and limit their capacity to implement policies that enhance public well-being.” – World Bank

When central bank digital currencies and social credit scores are implemented, you better watch what you say or do. If you say or do the wrong thing, you will have your money frozen. You will be like the Canadian truckers, who had their bank accounts frozen during COVID-19. With quantum computing, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven technologies, a surveillance apparatus is being built. This Beast system will be an authoritarian dystopia like the world has never known.

“In this case wisdom is needed: Let the person who has understanding calculate the total number of the beast, because it is a human total number, and the sum of the number is 666.” – Revelation 13:18

I beg you, please do not use Christianity for preying. Or else they will end to be damaged and in the end start praying. (Happened to me)

Stop lying about me and making other people believe in your lies. You know in your heart that I do not lie, I am open about myself. I have nothing to hide. We should not play the credibility game, because you know how it will end up.

One day, if God permits that time... You will find out that I am actually the only person that is true and kind to you.

1 John: The Marks of a True Christian

With false teachers and false converts plaguing the church, it’s sometimes hard to distinguish the wheat from the tares.

🙏 Mark #4: Repentance from sin

No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. - 1 John 3:9

👉 Self examination

Am I living in sin? Do I confess and repent when I sin? Does my sin grieve me or do I enjoy it? Am I practicing righteousness?

🙏 Mark #5: Love for others

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

- 1 John 4:7-8

👉 Self examination

Do I love others? Do I love others because God loves me or for selfish reasons? How do I demonstrate Christ-like love to others? Do I harbor hatred in my heart for anyone?

Dead Nature

They say that our future is extinction. A somewhat cataclysmic statement.

But perhaps they are not wrong and irrepressibly the world does not have a reverse gear.

This week the Glasgow Climate Change Conference (COP 26) has started and perhaps, perhaps, it will be the last chance to save the planet.

All our hopes that something positive will come out of this forum, of which I personally have very little credibility.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, is also known as The Guitar Hotel due to its tower constructed to resemble a guitar, is a hotel and casino resort in Hollywood, Florida, United States, located on 100 acres (40 ha) of the Hollywood Reservation of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The property currently has one hotel tower, a 140,000 sq ft (13,000 m2) casino, a large poker room, a 4-acre (1.6 ha) lagoon-style pool facility with a center bar, and many private restaurants, shops, spa, cabanas, bars, and nightclubs, and the Hard Rock Event Center. A large expansion was completed in October 2019.

The resort currently has a 12-story "classic Hard Rock Hotel" with 469 guest rooms and suites. Guests are greeted by a 50-foot (15 m) tall signature Hard Rock guitar, (based on a famous Gibson electric guitar model) at the entrance of the hotel, along with a massive LED advertising screen at the front of the main parking garage. The resort has 120,000-square-foot (11,000 m2) of meeting space, including a 38,000-square-foot (3,500 m2) exhibit hall.

The Hard Rock's $1.5 billion property expansion project added a 450-foot (140 m) tower designed to appear as a guitar, with lights providing the imagery of guitar strings, and 638 rooms alongside a seven-story, 168-room "Oasis Tower" overlooking the pool cabanas— open on October 24, 2019, several months in advance of Super Bowl LIV being held in Miami on February 2, 2020. The expansion also included a 42,000-square-foot (3,900 m2) "Rock Spa", and over 20 new dining and nightlife destinations. Between the existing 12-story hotel, new Guitar Hotel, and new Oasis Tower, over 1,200 hotel rooms became available in October 2019.

On May 9, 2014, Seminole Chief Jim Billie announced a $100 million upgrade of the tribe's casinos, with much of that spent on the Hard Rock Hollywood location, including improved entryways, center pool bar, pool facility upgrades, updated hotel room, and suite interiors, and a new restaurant. As of March 2019, the tribe's upgrade budget was significantly increased to over $2.4 billion, split mainly between this location and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tampa.

The current casino layout covers over 140,000 sq ft (13,000 m2) featuring slot machines and various table games including blackjack, baccarat, mini-baccarat, Pai Gow poker, Let It Ride, and three-card poker. The casino does not have live craps and roulette, although there are electronic versions of those games available. As of June 2018, the poker room is located in a former ballroom area, relocated from its prior venue due to ongoing construction work.

Blackjack is the most popular card game in the United States and was an addition to the casino. In a deal valued at $1.1 billion, former Governor Charlie Crist gave the Seminole Tribe a license for blackjack in its casinos. In exchange, The Seminole Tribe loaned the State of Florida $1.1 billion over the course of two years. On July 3, 2008, the Florida Supreme Court ruled that the governor's agreement was unconstitutional, but table games continue to operate because the Federal Department of the Interior approved the now-invalid pact with the state. The addition of blackjack to the Hard Rock casinos in Hollywood and Tampa gave credibility to its claim of being a major gambling destination.[

Hard Rock Live is a 7,000 seat multi-purpose theater, which opened on October 25, 2019, with a concert by Maroon 5. The theater replaced a 5,500 seat arena (razed in March 2018 as part of the property-wide expansion) of the same name, which hosted different types of events including musical acts, comedians, boxing, and other smaller events, along with a residency by Billy Joel. During construction of the new theater, events were held at the temporary 3,500 seat Hard Rock Event Center, which hosted acts including Britney Spears on her Piece of Me Tour.

The 69th edition of the Miss Universe competition was held on May 16, 2021, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino where Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa crowned her successor Andrea Meza of Mexico at the end of the event.

Model Anna Nicole Smith, who was staying at the resort, died in her hotel suite on February 8, 2007. An autopsy ruled her death was caused by an accidental drug overdose from prescription drugs.

Ragged, contradictory, lacking honesty, full of holes. This is my opinion of the Federal Government and it's attempt to develop a Climate, Emissions and Technology policy. The very worst of Green Wash which will leave us in the hands of the denying National Party MP's and coal carrying Liberals. These are the people that have had 8 years to develop something credible after dismantling Labour's comprehensive, market-based suite of programs. After all they debased ARENA ( Australian Renewable Energy Authority} this year to accept fossil fuel projects! They have no credibility like the Murdoch Press' breath-taking hypocritical "Green and Gold "headlines recently.

I am waiting for the rest of the world to move on and punish us for our stupidity. Apologies for the rant but...

Another ripple filtered photo manipulation inspired by my superstitions about quantum entanglement lending a possible credibility to lots of paranormal phenomenons (phenomena?).

Hello my Flickr friends!!!

Today is a pink/purple day at Color my World Daily Group. And at Make me smile on Saturday we have a very awesome theme: portray a movie.

Since my sons and my husband are a huge Star Wars fans, I was about to do a Star Wars photo. But of course, it was so simple in my mind but once I started putting everything together it become quickly a disaster … I’m not handling stress related to photo shoots very well… especially in lockdown situation with everyone being a little bit edgy …

We took 2 long walks to calm everyone. I cried, I screamed (at everyone including a cat and a bird just watching us walking…), and I had 2 gin & tonics back at home. And I had an urge to cut my own hair … but I didn’t (thanks God !!!)! Maybe I had a nervous breakdown? Who knows …? But after my 2 gin & tonics everything became so much clearer: why not revisit my old (I did one similar a few years ago and it should be somewhere in my albums on Flickr) "ET phone home" picture?

And so, I did. Even if I never saw that movie (yes, that is true!! I saw a major part of it but not the whole movie...), my husband was a huge ET fan (that is why I have an ET straight from the 1980). Few years ago, we showed it to our sons and my older son (he was like 8 at the time I believe) was sooooooo scared!! We had to stop the movie, like 10 minutes in…He cried for several hours and he had nightmares for a few days… It was at least my third attempt to see the WHOLE movie. But unfortunately, we never watched it again since it was such "a horrific" experience for our children and now all they want to see are superheroes movies, so I guess it is too late for ET. Yes, I know, instead of watching all the episodes of Tiger King on Netflix I should watch ET… I’m pretty much sure that ET is less of a drama queen that some (all??) characters on Tiger King ! ET has much, much more credibility in my opinion and definitely a better reputation worldwide ! I would vote for ET, and he may even save us from the corona virus, don’t you think ?

So which one you like better ET or Tiger King ?

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts / positive vibes!! Stay safe and healthy !! And enjoy your weekend !!!

Not everything in Porto is what it seems. The baroque "Pelourinho" (Schandpfahl, pillory) was built in the 1940s in order to give credibility to Salazar's "Estado Novo". In order to create the square in front of the old (originally Gothic) Cathedral (to the right) old living quarters were razed. I do not think that the Church put up any resistance. "AE EHL-E-WAFA DARS-E-WAFA KEUN NAHEN DETAY"

The stupid war against terrorism:

This is the stupidest war that I have ever seen.

Michael L. Love Ph.D

01/29/06 02:39 PM

US aggression against so-called terrorists has led predictably to bad results, and we should take all necessary action to stop the war now: It is a stupid, stupid war.

The state of the nation is appalling, but US power is clustered primarily around the centers of wealth (military might, and oil resources) in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere, and the situation is only getting worse. This result is not surprising since the premise of the war was flawed to begin with, and the execution of the war has devolved over the course of the past three years, so that the US is stuck in a sink hole, as it were. We must find a way to end this ridiculous war against terrorism and get the US out of Iraq and Afghanistan now. Stop the war now!

The leader of the US is clearly slow of mind, and the claims in support of the war are dubious at best. The resources that are being spent in the pursuit of al-Qaida are largely wasted because they are probably dead. Most of them died on 9/11 on the airplanes, and no terrorism has been reported since that time. Why are the resources of the US being wasted on this demented pursuit?

A simple review of the our history in Iraq will show the idiocy of our leaders. Despite this fact, that all known terrorists died in airplanes on 9/11, we subjected Iraq to repeated bombings, laid waste to their national infrastructure, starved their children with sanctions, and poisoned their environment with depleted uranium, among other egregious things. Then, after using the UN to emasculate their military, we took our exit from international chambers and viciously preempted, an invasion with an aim to throw down a sitting head of state, conquer cities, ports, and oil fields. We cruelly deprived the people of Iraq of their self-determination, lives, and wealth. After all of this depraved behavior on the part of the US, we expect the people of Iraq to welcome us as "liberators", and lay themselves low before our military power. How can we possibly be such imbeciles!

Clearly, the US has fully lost credibility as the protector of any values or virtues in the world; We should disavow the actions of the nation, end the current administration, and bring the troops home expeditiously. In the execution of this war the US appears as the equivalent of perdition's son and a whited sepulchre, vacuously quoting scripture as they kill proudly. They are full of bloodthirsty torture and murders in the dark; attacking their supposed enemies before they even become a credible threat. Given such a history I fear that the US is past redemption, so that no one should be judged for wishing to dissaciate themselves from the nation and their actions. It had such better potential than this.

Saddam was certainly a bad governor and evil person, but for purposes of US global domination, he was also established, propped up, and deliberately genocide-enabled by the US. When he lost favor with the oilygarchy, it was taken it out on the people of Iraq, in a US instigated downward spiral of misery. Before US intervention, Iraq was a secular modern state and friends of the US, not terrorists. Terrorism was no justification for the war, and in fact the war itself was a very act of terrorism. The US has become what we loathe.

At the outset of the war Mr Bush was a weak president, unsupported by a democratic majority, yet he presumed to lead the US into an unpopular war against the wishes of our closest friends. One might expect him to learn the lessons of history and know better, but instead we are subjected to more and more lies from his weak-minded, frenetic, and untrustworthy administration. He has propped up his power with egregious violations of our constitutional principles, such as the Patriot Act, FISA court violations, secret detentions, deportions, tortures, and killings.

This inane government will certainly retort that, "We are killing the terrorists", and if that were true, then it would destroy this argument. I say, "Show me the terrorists, Mr Bush, if you have killed so many". You have not produced a single one since 9/11. Your failure to combat the real problem is exasperating! Senseless.

It is our duty to express our opposition by taking action against this outrageous, evil, and stupid war. For example, we could plan an anti-war moratorium; a national strike, a stay home against the war protest. Many people are boycotting US corporations or attacking centers of wealth in the US. Practice austerity and boycott food products, technology products, computers, and pharmacuticals especially. Use the web and your prescriptions to get generic medicines abroad. Use free software instead of Microsoft. Sell your car, and buy a bicycle. Use public transportation, and send the money that you save to your favorite organization resisting the war. If you feel strongly against the war, then you should do something about it now, even if the impact is low, because it adds to what others are doing. All of these actions will let people know that it is important to stop the war. It is a statement and demonstration against the war, and if we all do it together, then we can stop the madness of the US and Bush administration. This type of activism works.

Use the "Resist War!" banner on your websites to spread the word against the war. Turn your websites black in protest, and link your sites together, and with ours. If we were joined by many other websites, then it could possibly have a major impact, and turn back from this egregious situation. Hundreds of millions of people now agree that the war is wrong, and that it should be ended. If everyone does everything that we can, then the situation will become even more intolerable, and the US will withdraw.

The truth is that the people of Iraq are defending their homeland against an un-provoked act of aggression. The US has killed many of their brave fighters, but they continue to fight. In their desolation, there are many Iraqis remaining who have welcomed us into their cities, but given our abysmal performance, even such subjugation is seriously in doubt. Despite this abhorrent situation, the war continues, and it is madness to think that the continued presence of the US contributes anything positive to the situation. It is in no way possible that the presence of such a desolator can offer any betterment to the people of Iraq. Still I am advocating for enforced reparations to be paid by the US to Iraq and Afghanistan after withdrawl. The dubious leaders of the US are misusing their armed forces in an egregious way. Bring the troops home now before they are ordered to commit any more barbarities. This will have the added benefit of sparing the people of Iraq any further misery at the hand of the US nation. US out! End the conquest and occupation of Iraq now!

EXPLORE March 13th, 2015

Have a GREAT & RELAXING Weekend my friends & hope you get lot's of great pics if you are out clickin' : ) We are headed out in the boat for fishing and photo-ing : )

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

"March 11, 1942, was a dark, desperate day at Corregidor. The Pacific theater of war was threatening and bleak. One island after another had been buffeted into submission. The enemy was now marching into the Philippines as confident and methodical as the star band in the Rose Bowl parade. Surrender was inevitable. The brilliant and bold soldier, Douglas MacArthur, had only three words for his comrades as he stepped into the escape boat destined for Australia: "I SHALL RETURN."

Upon arriving nine days later in the port of Adelaide, the sixty-two-year-old military statesman closed his remarks with this sentence: "I CAME THROUGH AND I SHALL RETURN."

A little over two and a half years later---October 20, 1944, to be exact---he stood once again on Philippine soil after landing safely at Leyte Island. This is what he said: "This is the voice of freedom, General MacArthur speaking. People of the Philippines: I HAVE RETURNED!"

MacArthur kept his word. His word was as good as his bond. Regardless of the odds against him, including the pressures and power of enemy strategy, he was bound and determined to make his promise good.

This rare breed of man is almost extinct. Whether an executive or an apprentice, a student or a teacher, a blue collar or white, a Christian or not---rare indeed are those who keep their word. The prevalence of the problem has caused the coining of a term painfully familiar to us in our era: credibility gap. To say that something is "credible" is to say it is "capable of being believed, trustworthy." To refer to a "gap" in such suggests a "breach or a reason for doubt."

Jurors often have reason to doubt the testimony of a witness on the stand. Parents, likewise, have reason at times to doubt their children's word (and vice versa). Citizens frequently doubt the promises of politicians, and the credibility of an employee's word is questioned by the employer. Creditors can no longer believe a debtor's verbal promise to pay, and many a mate has ample reason to doubt the word of his or her partner. This is a terrible dilemma! Precious few do what they say they will do without a reminder, a warning, or a threat. Unfortunately, this is true even among Christians.

Taste the encouragement in God's message to His people in Zephaniah 3:8-13 and chew especially His words about purified and truthful speech. Let them motivate you today to the highest standard---God's standard---of integrity.

Listen to what the Scriptures have to say about keeping your word:

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor. (Ephesians 4:25 NIV)

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Colossians 3:17 NIV)

LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary?

Who may live on your holy hill?

He whose walk is blameless . . .

who speaks the truth from his heart. (Psalm 15:1–2)

It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it. (Ecclesiastes 5:5 NIV)

When a man . . . takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said. (Numbers 30:2 NIV)"

Usually by this time of the year, the owls have left. With the crazy weather and late spring there are still plenty of owls hanging around. So Mr. Al Gore, whatever happened to global warming? You're losing your credibility....

Can I be prosecuted if the sign is misspelled?

You can’t drive to the Brazos vertical lift drawbridge – it only serves the railroad. When I have walked out here in the past there were always people standing along the length of the bridge, fishing in the Napa River. Back when this rail route was rarely used I have enjoyed taking close-ups of the lift portion, with its giant chains and pulleys. I believe the railroad decided to run more trains through here now, and it is likely dangerous for people to be standing that close to both the passing cars and the moving bridge. So now we have this sign, and no one fishing, and an old lady photographer too intimidated to walk out there on the bridge any longer.

I’ve been a little busy this last week preparing for the ‘big’ ice storm, dealing with flickering electricity for three days during ad after the storm, ( trying to stay off the computers for fear of a power surge, even with protectors you can crash a system ) followed by the inevitable power outage, This time for only 39 ¾ hours. The next time we have a spare $700.00 we Are getting a generator. I knew there was a reason I had kept my old battery powered cassette player, We listened to episodes of “The Shadow”, Orson Wells’ “War of the Worlds” and “The Bickersons”. I miss old radio shows. They are so descriptive and allow your mind to really blossom. It was… Fun this time. We were prepared. :D

My first choice was to photograph a man's mustache (aka 'cookie duster' ). I did not cross pathes with one mustache clad man the day we were running around preparing for the ice storm, being icebound, this is my second choice.

COOKIES ARE EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN.!!! All the good ones contain sugar. Sugar is EVIL.

I paid dearly for That Pie at Thanksgiving. But boy oh boy was it worth it. There are times I would die for an Oreo double stuff.! And occasionally take the risk. Lol.

I allow myself two pieces of sweet a day. My own rules, no medical reason other than a book I read in 1974 called “Sugar Blues”.. That is when I took refined sugar out of my diet .

________________________________________________________________

Surely you know by now, I’m going to have something extra for you.

You really should make time and read the second link. At least go there, mark it and come back to it another day. I have pulled a few key paragraphs and placed them below.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_Blues

Sugar Blues

Sugar Blues is a book by William Dufty that was released in 1975 and became a commercial success. According to the publishers, over 1.6 million copies have been printed.

In the book, Dufty makes the case that sugar is an addictive drug, that it is extremely harmful to the human body, and that the sugar industry conspires to keep Americans addicted to sugar.

The book's central argument is that a small dietary change, eliminating refined sugar, can make a huge difference in how good one is able to feel physically and mentally.

John Lennon was a strong supporter of the book.

www.quantumbalancing.com/news/sugar_blues.htm

Dufty compares sugar to opium, morphine, and heroin, and calls sugar companies "pushers". He blamed sugar for everything from acne and scurvy to bubonic plague.

One of the most powerful ‘Lobby’ groups in Washington is.

THE NUTRITION FOUNDATION INC,. a front organization for the leading sugar-pushing conglomerates in the food business, including the American Sugar Refining Company, Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola, Curtis Candy Co., General Foods, General Mills, Nestlé Co., Pet Milk Co. and Sunshine Biscuits-about 45 such companies in all.

In the 1930s, a research dentist from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr Weston A. Price, traveled all over the world-from the lands of the remote Alaska to the South Sea Islands, from Africa to New Zealand. His Nutrition and Physical Degeneration: A Comparison of Primitive and Modern Diets and Their Effects, which is illustrated with hundreds of photographs, was first published in 1939.

Dr Price took the whole world as his laboratory. His devastating conclusion, recorded in horrifying detail in area after area, was simple. People who live under so-called backward primitive conditions had excellent teeth and wonderful general health. They ate natural, unrefined food from their own locale. As soon as refined, sugared foods were imported as a result of contact with "civilization", physical degeneration began in a way that was definitely observable within a single generation.

Any credibility the sugar pushers have is based on our ignorance of works like that of Dr Price. Sugar manufacturers keep trying, hoping and contributing generous research grants to colleges and universities; but the research laboratories never come up with anything solid the manufacturers can use. Invariably, the research results are bad news.

Dextrose, also called "corn sugar", is derived synthetically from starch. Fructose is fruit sugar. Maltose is malt sugar. Lactose is milk sugar. Sucrose is refined sugar made from sugar cane and sugar beet.

"Made from natural ingredients", the television sugar-pushers tell us about product after product. The word "from" is not accented on television. It should be. Even refined sugar is made from natural ingredients. There is nothing new about that. The natural ingredients are cane and beets. But that four-letter word "from" hardly suggests that 90 per cent of the cane and beet have been removed. Heroin, too, could be advertised as being made from natural ingredients. The opium poppy is as natural as the sugar beet. It's what man does with it that tells the story.

If you want to avoid sugar in the supermarket, there is only one sure way. Don't buy anything unless it says on the label prominently, in plain English: "No sugar added". Use of the word "carbohydrate" as a "scientific" word for sugar has become a standard defense strategy with sugar pushers and many of their medical apologists. It's their security blanket.

One lump of sugar in your coffee after a sandwich is enough to turn your stomach into a fermenter. One soda with a hamburger is enough to turn your stomach into a still. Sugar on cereal-whether you buy it already sugared in a box or add it yourself-almost guarantees acid fermentation.

FACTS ABOUT WHITE SUGAR CONSUPTION

The average American consumes an astounding two pounds of sugar each week, which is not surprising considering that highly refined sugars in the forms of sucrose (table sugar), dextrose (corn sugar), and high-fructose corn syrup are being processed into so many foods such as BREAD, breakfast CEREALl, KETCHUP, MAYONNAISE, PEANUT BUTTER, SPAGETTI SAUCE, and a plethora of microwave meals.

An average American consumes147 pounds of sweeteners each year.

Monoglycerides used in some ice creams are a possible cancer causing agent in test animals.

www.quantumbalancing.com/news/sugar_blues.htm

ALL current research supports the above information.

Scary huh.

I'm actually impossibilitated to stay longer online, I'm just borrowing a tablet for a limited time until the below explained matter will be solved.

A bad admin, or, I should say worse, a malicius jerk administrating some groups with an incommensurable prosopopeia, professing his groups as the best of Flickr, (with what authority and modesty? Lol), sent an email to my mailbox injecting a bad virus: that of the ineptitude, oh my!

My doctor said I should follow a prophylaxis to avoid any contamination proscribing me to train with some new abstraction works. (I believe he means I should abstract myself from unrilevant ridiculous issues :-) There me go! This is my new abstract :-)

>>> Do you think I can be saved? Or should I sew that bad person who wrote me an amount of falsities and insults, hoping to offend me at no avail?

While Flickr is inspecting the case, especially after having had two approvals (certified by screenshots) for the same abstract, followed by two removals of the same and because he allowed himself to disrespectfully land in my profile with no permission and publicly drop lies and falsities, informing he -fakely- banned me from a group I had already left the week before as tired by his multiple unjustified incorrectnesses (this sounds a retaliation because with my free will I unjoined his elitary group!), I will post here my new preparatory abstract exercize for the attention of my Flickr Friends, contacts & visitors. It's been very relaxing making it!

Thought of the day: those who abuse of a unauthorized power, lose any credibility.

As my contacts and followers know, I'm an admin too, besides simple member in a number of groups, but I've never seen such a sociopath behaviour from the sides of an admin, asserting elitary and racist statemens on his "mythical" groups that, for him, but just for him, are the best ever on Flickr, although you should see the pool, not very much supporting his self-congratulatory position.

And, see, isn't this assertion offensive towards all the other admins and moderators of active groups who do their very best as volunteers ? Isn't this offensive for all those smart artists who decided to not join his groups ?

To tell it all, I had joined his 2/3 groups thinking that my humble works, not being a digital manipulator expert, could indeed fit in a middle, middle-mediocre group for ordinary creativity.

I tried to open his eyes, and I did also because, apart approving continuosly my submissions and then frantically removing my pics even after days with the false accusation I bypass the pending queue (ridiculous as impossible).

In particular, my pic that was heavily attacked by his comment (and 2 RRR emails = rude, redundant & racist) can be seen at this link: flic.kr/p/2oFPxRy.

I don't appreciate that admin continuously tampering me and my profile sending me a wide variety of invites to other groups, notwithstanding I regularly deny his invites and told him I don't need and don't feel like to post in those groups, but, no no, there's nothing to do in front of ignorance.

So, Friends, heads up, when someone treat you with disrespect, no matter what his/her role is, beware and possibly leave those groups that, if administrated with malpractices, rudeness and disrespect, are surely groups you don't belong.

Furthermore, the Flickr Community Guidelines assert, that a member removal can occur only just after 3 warnings and I received none, instead I received an award by the same admin who then removed my pic inventing I have overpassed the pending queue. The same admin who, while he believes to be a true digital artist, wrote me he was not able to download and visualize the PNG screenshot of my notifications proving beyond doubts that he had indeed approved my pic. Wow! A true professional! A fantasy visionary!

If similar episodes should happen to you, be aware you have the possibility to flag and report both the group and the admin responsible of bad treatments or unfair removals.

Happy new week!

All pictures, textures, photo manipulation and digital manual painting on my own.

Preserved trams at the Brisbane Tramway Museum Society premises in Ferny Grove, Brisbane. From left to right, Four Motor (FM) tram 429, the first FM tram no. 400 (recently restored) and older drop centre tram no. 341. Space and costs are always at a premium but it worries me that if there was a fire, precious trams would be lost for good. Not so outrageous really given Brisbane's history and the total destruction of the Paddington Tram Depot and 67 trams on 28 September 1962 which included many trams of both types seen here.

"Brisbane's tram system

Brisbane established its first horse tram in 1885. It's a hilly city, so this must have been tough for horses. Electric operation was introduced in 1897 with some imported trams, but local construction soon began. From 1907, single truck ten-bench trams were introduced, and in 1908, the two bogie dreadnought commenced service.

In 1923 the tramways were brought under one management, the Brisbane Tramways Trust, but two years later, the Brisbane City Council took over. It immediately set about modernising the fleet. The dropcentre tram appeared that year, and in 1938 the new streamlined FM was introduced.

By 1952, the network had expanded to 109 route kilometres (199 km of track). Ten years later, Brisbane trams were still going strong, despite the fact that trams had disappeared from many other Australian cities, and in spite of being under the control of a fiercely anti-tram Lord Mayor. Mayor Clem Jones, a member of the Labor Party, had views on public transport which were directly opposite to most in his party. He was quoted as saying that his ideal was for the working man to be driving his own car, not catching a tram.

But disaster struck. On 28-Sep-1962 Paddington tram depot just happened to catch fire, and burnt to the ground, destroying 65 trams. Old Dreadnought trams were pressed into service, and 8 replacement (Phoenix) trams were built, but Jones began to close lines almost immediately. Final closure came in April 1969.

One of those "Alice Through the Looking Glass" experiences that one often has when looking at Queensland politics has come again. The former National Party (conservative) State Government portrayed itself as pro-public transport, and the (then) opposition Labor Party as anti-PT (a la Clem Jones, 30 years ago), a claim which has a credibility problem anywhere else in the country. It proposed a new tram system for Brisbane, BrizTram, as an election stunt, but few people outside Queensland expected that it would ever be built afterwards (and perhaps few in Queensland either). But that government did not survive the election, and the new Labor Government has killed off the proposal. The Nationals can still claim that they are pro-public transport (since they did not have to follow through), and that Labor is anti- etc. etc. Everyone is happy. But there are no trams."
