Missouri City Council members unanimously voted to appoint Edward A. Broussard, pictured above, as the Show Me City's new City Manager.
Following an extensive nationwide search, Missouri City Council members unanimously voted to appoint Edward A. Broussard as City Manager. He assumes the position on Jan. 2, 2012. Broussard, who has been city manager since 2005 for Hutto in the Austin area, brings 16 years experience in Texas municipal government. He previously was city manager for Navasota from 2001 to 2005, assistant city manager for Woodway from 2000 to 2001, and assistant to the city manager for College Station from 1997-2000. He began his municipal career with various administrative positions for Lubbock.
"Ed's strong experience, obvious leadership skills and energetic spirit were all reasons that City Council believed he would fit well with our community," said Mayor Allen Owen. "He has proven success with community input and involvement, a philosophy that is important to a dynamic city such as ours."
Broussard counts among his achievements working with citizens, city council and city staff on such issues as strategic planning, mixed-use developments, other economic development projects, new facilities, neighborhood integrity, beautification improvements, capital projects, charter revisions and land-use planning.
Hutto also was awarded state and federal funding for parkland development and major capital project improvements.
Through his leadership, Hutto's financial performance was strengthened through budgetary process management, formal reserve policy, a five-year capital improvement program, conservative investment policies and a formal long-term financial plan to continue upgrading the city's bond rating. He created an award-winning organizational development plan to sustain and maintain a qualified staff that will continue to move the city in a positive, progressive and productive direction.
Broussard is active in state and international city management associations. He was Region 7 president in 2007 for the Texas City Management Association, served on that organization's Board of Directors from 2009 -2011 and was named TCMA's 2011 Administrator of the Year. Broussard also is a credentialed manager with the International City/County Management Association.
During his tenure at Hutto, the city was honored with numerous awards, including a statewide Technology Excellence Award in 2007, the Texas Municipal League Excellence Award in 2007 and 2008 for Communications and for Management Innovation, respectively, and the Keep Texas Beautiful Governor's Community Achievement Award in 2010. Like Missouri City, Hutto is a Designated Scenic City in Texas.
Broussard earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Texas A& M University in 1994 and his Master in Public Administration from Texas Tech University in 1997.
He and his wife Sammi and their three children are looking forward to becoming a part of the Missouri City community.
Missouri City's former city manager Frank Simpson resigned last May to accept the assistant city manager position in College Station. City Council contracted with Chris Hartung with Public Sector Solutions to conduct a nationwide search for a replacement. Council members engaged Alan Mueller, a Missouri City consultant and former city manager of Gainesville and deputy city manager in Pearland, as interim city manager. Mueller will continue in that position through 2011.

I think more than 50 percent of teaching is organization. Managing paperwork. Tons of it!
And time management.
Interestingly enough, I never had an actual course on classroom organization and time management in my two-year credentialing program. (Guess it was covered under student teaching.) But I digress.
Spent my lovely Friday afternoon organizing and photocopying for my One-Minute Math Drill box. It will be way more efficient and easier for me and the One-Minute Math Monitor to use (yep, we teachers have classroom monitors for everything!)
Spending time to save time.

Making Digital Marketing deliver with digital marketing certifications today for marketers often means blasting away through - what GDMI discerns as a mounting digital confusion. It does not, however, essentially take much - just sticking steadfast to business basics. But the chatter and clutter of social media and digital technologies often distracts organizations from the core strategic agendas of their businesses – those that critically connect to marketing and sales aims and targets.
This is first of the several theoretical conclusions the GDMI-CredRadar research initiative on Drivers of Digital Marketing Excellence have revealed. The first major edge of GDMI Credentials emanates from the overarching focus on strategic business and marketing needs of organizations that the GDMI Digital Marketing Professional Excellence Framework (DMPX™ Release:15-2.3) propounds. Driven by this attention to strategic priorities as they are, GDMI-credentialed Digital Marketing professionals display more mature and principally sound capabilities and potential of leveraging digital technologies and mediums for sustainably improved marketing results.

Mmm, but maybe next year I'll get myself credentialed all the same. The organizer offered again, so clearly they have no problems with my skipping the whole huge line and swanning straight in as though Page One were being held for me.
And I'm sure that each of these hundreds of people would be pleased to see me wave and blow kisses as I trot happily past them, fifteen minutes before the gates open.
Reasonably sure.
Anyway, my team and I arrived at the same time as last year, which once again proved to be the perfect time: 10:30, just a half hour before the starters' gun. We found parking right across the street and we weren't terribly far back in the line.
Mind you, I was damned concerned as we drove down from Boston. Rain had been forecast earlier in the week, which promised a light turnout. Beautiful sunshine + mild temps was sure to = Exodus-scale crowds and four-by-four strollers clogging the aisles.
