Vance Reeser makes animated films, creates images, crafts websites, and writes a blog. He so expertly filled up this Scout Book with some amazing character sketches–and a collage treat at the end. Not to mention the first time we've ever seen the Scout Book used as a mask! Bravo, bravo Vance! Great innovation. Great sketches.
Find Vance's work here, on his website. One project we're particularly intrigued by is a short animated film Vance is creating called the Beast of Black Lake. He used Kickstarter to fund the project but is still accepting backers to help propel the project towards completion.
We're pretty sure we'll be seeing loads of great stuff from Vance in the near future.

Chad Kouri loves paper. I might go so far as to call him The Collage Master. His work incorporates vintage ephemera, letterpress printing and found objects, which makes for a body of work that is at once tangible, nostalgic and visually spectacular. Find a bursting portfolio of Chad's work online at Long Live Analog, much of which lives happily in the interesting realm of digital-meets-analog. Geek out over projects such as his papercut desktop wallpaper for Kistune Noir, or his iPhone cases wrapped in digitized artwork of hand-cut vintage graph paper. Whoa.
Chad's Scout Book boasts a fantastic touch-and-feel, cut-and-paste quality. It makes me want to touch my computer screen.

These Scout Books are HOT!
Mt. Hood Community College’s Integrated Media Program recently had it’s yearly Portfolio Show featuring the work of 18 graphic design students and 12 digital photography students of the class of 2010. They handed these Scout Books out to more than 500 attendees of the show and encouraged them all to vote on their favorite portfolio. The book was also used to take notes on each participant and served as a great take-away.

Eddie Campbell's new graphic novel comes out in September. Meanwhile, Top Shelf Productions has created this sneak-peak chapbook (better known around the shop as the Scout Book Grande) to give expectant fans a taste of what is to come.
With the same sturdy chipboard exterior as the Scout Book, the Grande is simply bigger!
It has been two months in the making but today we finally took delivery of the first copies of the new Anabas corporate brochure. The brochure itself features information about what the makes the company unique within its sector.
* Fifth bag in a new series of shoulderbags.
This bag is made out of black and silver vinyl (reptile print), has a silvertone buckle on the front and is lined with a bright green vintage fabric, with a zippered pocket.
The shoulder straps are made out of window rolling-shutter straps.
* Vijfde tas in een nieuwe serie schoudertassen.
Deze tas is gemaakt uit zwart met zilver vinyl (reptielenprint), heeft een zilverkleurige gesp voorop, is gevoerd met een felgroene vintage stof en heeft een binnenzak met ritssluiting.
De schouderbanden zijn gemaakt van bedieningsbanden voor rolluiken.

Behr looked to SMS to create a double-sided, vertical signage system to provide in-aisle product information regarding Behr Paint in one the largest North American home improvement retailers. In order to comply with ADA requirements, the signage display needed to hang near the saleable product, but always be out of the aisle. The signage system needed to be expandable and interchangeable, providing product promotion that could evolve over the display's lifecycle to remain fresh and consistent with the product assortment.
SMS designed a universal signage system constructed of sturdy, injection-molded plastic with interchangeable signage placards that can be easily updated. The signage provides product information or detailed material/finish samples at point-of-sale, while complying with ADA requirements.
Last week we sent a bunch of Scout Books to SXSW in Texas with @rohdesign and @austinkleon for their Visual Notetaking 101 Panel.
These guys take awesome notes, and they designed this pocket notebook to offer you a chance to create beautifully illustrated notes, too. The cover features illustration exercises for better notetaking.

The thirteenth release in our Designer Card series features a beautiful illustration by Portland artist extraordinaire, Jill Bliss!
Printed on 80% Recycled Environment 80# White Felt Cover stock, this card was offset printed with three soy-based Pantone ink colors.
Jill explores the natural world in her signature style, and these poppies are just the latest in her constantly growing collection of gorgeous illustrations of flowers, plants, and even tree houses!
These Scout Books were made for the Brand New Conference this Friday, Nov. 5th! Brand New is a one day event held by UnderConsideration on the development of corporate and brand identity projects. They have quite the line-up which I can imagine makes for a super full and intense day of identity talk. Don't worry though, there will be an after party.
