Impending series at Riv... finished up the set tonight and decided to take a couple shots.
This is a composite of three photos, stitched in Photoshop.

The three week CRAVE series at Riv.
We pulled down the black fabric from our previous set build and replaced it with eighth inch hardboard and pegboard. The pegboard has 1 mil translucent plastic behind it and we drilled out holes so the backlights would make the letters CRAVE visible. All the LED lights that were pointed up were reoriented to point down and toward the back wall so that the holes in the pegboard would effectively glow with color.
The most involved part of this was attaching all the sheets of hardboard and pegboard. We went through almost two full boxes of screws. Given the option I would have used 3/16 inch thick materials but that would've cost nearly twice as much, which is crazy.

A lot of people seem to hate these sculptures. It has been a while since I last hung around Sherbourne/St James Town and generally that was only at night (those party days seem like a dream from long, long ago) so it's always a surprise when something so gentrified-y pops up in the neighbourhood. It was much too hot to explore further but there is more to see.
"The multi-sited sculptural work, Inversion is a comment about our current, local relationship with this age old Canadian and particularly urban interaction with nature. Simply put, nature has now been turned on its head. The threat has gone, the desire is not to fortify our existence against the wilderness which has been tamed to disappearance, but rather, it is now a nostalgic desire to embrace what no longer exists.
The animals represented as realistic sculptural renderings in bronze are intended to invoke a pastoral past, inverted. The stag positioned vertically, fastened to a stainless steel support structure, is at once a symbol of strength and a symbol of nature’s replacement by man’s ingenuity and modern invention. The two wolves, the one upright, the other inverted and mirrored, elevated on their stainless steel tower simultaneously guard and welcome. The female deer, the doe, the only one of the animals represented sited at ground level, on a flat stainless steel plate, calmly, peacefully invokes an idealized past and an comfortable presence. The foxes are sited close to the doors of the building at pedestrian level, they are intended to be interacted with visually and tactilely, literally available to be petted. The foxes are not merely shadows of one another, but are turned around creating an unsymmetrical reflection, a personification of a life effused with humour and goodwill."

Alright, I'm on the up and up with technology, but I haven't had a good reason to use my phone to take photos cause camera phones mostly suck. I've had a SE w810i for about a month now and this is my first mobile upload- kinda cool. I gotta look into what this is going to cost me!
