Just happened to stop at this little seaside pier (I honestly don’t even remember where exactly we were lol) and there were all of these sea lions basking about, but these 2 immediately caught my eye. I barely knew how to use my camera at the time, and didn’t even realize I got this shot (and another one with the bird a little higher) until I got back home to Florida. I’d taken hundreds of photos of these and the other sea lions in that area, and just happened to have gotten lucky to think to myself “I should get a few of the waves crashing into the rocks”.
I had a lovely walk, along the Ballast Bank in Troon, on my way back home, this afternoon. I managed to catch a few shots of crashing waves and noticed this woman who was standing very close to the sea.
Just after taking this shot I looked back over to where she was standing when she got absolutely soaked and knocked over by a large crashing wave. She was fine and when she stood up turned around, laughing!!

A memorable evening at Elgol where conditions were constantly changing as Storm Dennis barreled across the Isle of Skye. We were treated to ever changing conditions, including a rising tide, gale force winds, driving rain, hail pellets, snow, grey skies, broken clouds, flat light which was often quickly followed with moments of gorgeous golden hour light.
We were a group of 7 togs dashing about capturing as many images as we could, in conditions we had only dreamed of before. For some reason, a majority of us eventually ended up here at the JCB (Joe Cornish Boulder) . . . fortunately we all ‘played well’ together and sharp elbows were rarely needed. In the distance can be seen the snow capped Cuillins.
This was the end of my first day on Skye, as I was walking back to the car in darkness I thought to myself how lucky I was!

Waves crashing under the iconic bridge with a fisherman looking for his dinner catch. This was one of a kind sunset for me as I was waiting with all set and nothing happened 10 minutes into sunset due to clouds, as I was walking back noticed the sky started to glow when I thought everything was over. Was able to quickly setup in the sand and get this moment before it was gone. Single exposure raw processed in LR an PS.
Wheel, although we don't have a named storm hitting us, today, it was more than windy and cold! I got this far along the esplanade before turning back!!

So, I'm back in Iceland!!
My contract came to an end, so I decided to take the opportunity to escape to Iceland for a while. I made it out just before the next lockdown in the UK!
So I'm currently in quarantine for five days, and this is where I am, Reynisfjara. The sunrise yesterday was magical. Just love this place.
Today is rainy and horrible, to make up for yesterday's loveliness - that's Iceland for you!
An image from last year taken at Estrahorn in the far South East of Iceland, it's very remote out here and feels it too.
I've not taken anything recently that I'm happy to upload on here and I'm not uploading possibly below par images just for the sake of it, so I'll continue to find shots from the archive until (hopefully) I get something worth posting soon...
This was shot at Sunset with the low sun illuminating the fantastic and dramatic form of the Eystrahorn, this is shot a lot less than it more famous neighbour at Vestrahorn.
There is a headland here that basically has 2 beaches either side, the beach to the East had enormous breakers coming pounding in, which were great to shoot but the sunlight was far more prominent on this side hitting the gnarly tops.

Taken along highway 101 on the Oregon coast from a ~400-foot high cliff. These massive waves were crashing against the headlands and seagulls and seals were feasting on the food that was churning up from the depths of the ocean.
It was very windy one day recently, and cold, with lots of fun ice-and-crashing wave opportunities along the river. Some slow shutter speed fun made things even more interesting.
Moody conditions down at the magical Luskentyre Beach. Taken during our March 2023 Isle of Harris Workshop. Why not join us next year ??

A parent and child enjoy a moment together listening to the crashing waves and gazing out on the blue Lake Michigan waters...

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

It's been way too long since I've posted something here on Flickr. This is one my favorite images I got at Cape Kiwanda a few months back
Monochrome photograph of Llandanwg Beach and the waves crashing against the rocks on a very chilly late afternoon.
The storm waves from the Pacific Ocean crash against the rocky bluffs at Cape Disappointment, Washington. The lighthouse sitting above the heavy surf punctuates this northwest scene.
Shot handheld as a storm rolled in with gale force wind. I wanted to capture the dynamics of the scene, movements, colors, and the overall mood of the scene.

And to close, we are back for a variation on the opening photograph with just a slight change of the perspective and time passing. How much time? It's about 50 minutes after the sunrise photograph ... #etbtsy

Not only was it somewhat stormy down at the beach, this afternoon, it was very cold and almost impossible to stand still to take my photographs, due to the strong wind blowing off the sea!
Crashing waves stopping anyone walking along the esplanade apart from one silly man!!

A lonely light peering through stormy skies. A young Harry Potter was rumored to be spotted here… - Stonington, CT
Oregon Coast at Seal Rock beach. Full moon was setting so I used my 70-200 f4L lens and used some distant rocks that were stopping these amazing waves as a foreground element in hopes that a wave would hit them and shoot up at the moon. In the actual RAW file, the moon and sky is a lot lighter but I felt that a darker sky and a slightly higher contrast on the moon would help and this is the best I have come up with.
This is a single frame and that is the REAL MOON that was in the sky. I did a slight contrast to it, but this is all from a single SHOT. A 3 stop hard GND filter was used to balance the exposure.
As the sun set, a huge March storm crashed into Coquille Point near Bandon, Oregon.
Gulls flew in for refuge in the green grass atop the leeward side of the sea stacks. A weathered log rolled in the foreground.

This lighthouse is located in Newport Oregon in an area often referred to as Agate Beach. The lighthouse is 93 feet tall and is located on a basalt point that extend out into the Pacific Ocean. The lighthouse has been in service since the 1870's.
This particular image was taken from the south.
A glorious morning on the Gold Coast. I didn't think I would get any colour but Mother Nature always surprises :)

Since getting my new camera recently I had been aching to shoot a landscape. I had been shooting like a madman but not landscapes. Not sure why. Just busy I suppose and I have been learning a lot about flash lighting, portraiture, etc. So some weeks ago my buddy Hector and I decided we should go hit up Corona Del Mar and see if we can't get a good sunset. Unfortunately it became quite cloudy. Nevertheless I shot and luckily we got some color and nice comps. I know my posting has been sporadic lately at best but I am still trying to recover all my photos off of my hard drives that failed.
