The wind was strong enough that it was difficult to steady my camera, so I used my iPhone camera. Waves crashed over the edge of the Charlevoix South Pier. To withstand the wave action, the Charlevoix South Pier Light was rebuilt using steel to replace the wood in the year 1948.
With each crash of the waves, the Willet runs in to shore.

A 51-foot tall cylindrical, steel lighthouse was built at this location on the South Pier, Grand Haven, Michigan in 1905. The outlying front light and fog signal building was added in 1922.
Though the air was relatively still and it was a bright sunny morning, waves were high enough to make the pier wet and slippery. On stormy days, the waves can be very high, dangerously washing over the pier, making the lighted catwalk to the lighthouse an important feature.
I felt and heard the power of a Lake Superior storm at Grand Marais. The wind was strong, and the black clouds were moving in. Grand Marais is one of my favorite places to visit and photograph.

I was amazed to see how close this gull was to the crashing waves. It does give perspective to the waves size and the gull was definitely in the shot as taken😊
The unusual things about the storm was not only the strength of the wind but also that when the wind was at its strongest as this shot shows the sun was out😀

The rugged coast of Cornwall, UK and the relentless surge of the sea inspires meditation.
"On all these shores there are echoes of past & future: of the flow of time, obliterating yet containing all that has gone before; of the sea's eternal rhythms ..." ~ Rachel Carson

Not particularly sunny day but when the sun showed itself it was quite dramatic.
Taken with my compact Sony, this has a Zeiss lens which probably helps with the way it captures light.
Dawlish, Devon. Known for it's sea wall being battered by waves, even on a calm day! Here the water monster is climbing up to drench yet another victim!
