Since we did go absolutely nuts with the spring cleaning (in fact not just cleaning, but repainting furniture, sanding, staining, etc), I thought it was about time to share some inside images of my home. The love affair I have with it grows regularly. Plus, the porch shots were probably getting old! ;)

I *believe* from the research I have done that this craftsman was built in the early 40s.

My office then and now.

I found the table on Craigslist for $25. Refinished the dilapidated top and painted the base from white to black.

Here's a better picture of the new old bike. I wish I knew what year it was!

The view out of my office window.

The armoire was purchased off of Craigslist for $100 and I painted it from green to satin black to match the table.

The table and armoire are Craigslist finds and refurbished to their present condition

I've been DYING for one of these Prams. Finally scored one off Craigslist for $40!!!!!!!!!

PS I did not take this picture. Haha.

Don't you love that new lamp?!

Punched tin panels with mustard/pumpkin paint. There's quite a bit of blue paint underneath that shows through. Drawer needs new handles as they were missing. New acquisition.

Love love love my new painting by Alexandra Rozenman entitled 'Found It!' I hung it in the hallway so I can walk by it a hundred times a day.

Our painting above the fireplace is by Alexandra as well and is entitled 'Orange Point of View' - these two paintings are very special to me.

Well, it's never done. But it looks great, right?

Bar Cabinet Project - It's been sanded, primed, sanded again, and painted twice. Doors were made and installed. Booze pulled from random spots in kitchen and placed inside. *phew*

Happy birthday, honey! Hope you love it!

Rearranged the furniture in the sun porch to fit a new danish style love seat that I found on Craigslist - need to make cushions for it though.

New Craigslist danish style chair with original light blue upholstery.

The frame above the chair used to be in the hallway. It is a collage of old photos from my grandma Adeline.

Thrifted black frame for $1.49 - that is a photo Jake took of his feet in our old bathroom from our Portland Ave apartment! I love that old hexagon tile so much -- it is probably what sold us on our current house :)

That little red tree is original art by Barbara Gilhooly - she paints on wooden plaques she finds at thrift stores or garage sales.

New mid-century lamp found at garage sale for $30! It works perfect in this corner!

Also, stolen white lilacs from the alley behind our house!

The larger shelving unit in its new home.

Empty for the time being, to be filled with curiousities as I acquire them.

New photos added to buffet ledge. The bleeding hearts are from my garden and are so sweet.

Garage sale treasures -- teak bear figurine for $1; two vintage blue Mason jars with holder was $2; print from Italy, on the far right of the buffet ledge was $1.

A pic of the Bozart Kaleidscope Dollhouse. Ain't it neat looking???

I found this today while I was out and about. It will definitely be staying right here on the new shelving. I love how the grays complement each other.

Three smaller units grouped in their new home. Everything on the shelves is temporary until I figure out a nice arrangement to complement the red shelving which sits directly across the room.

...Obviously the cords wont be such a mess either when its all done ;)

While the kit screams hours of endless sanding and priming, the structure just screams so many possibilities. Ach, BK is gonna kill me if I get this...

Bar Cabinet Project - I sanded again, this time I used a super-fine grit so the paint would go on smoothly.

Paint - The interior is a semi-gloss white, the exterior a flat "oops" in the green range.

Doors - Bought sanded plywood at Home Depot for $8 and had them cut it to size.

Bar Cabinet Project - After sanding I applied a coat of primer on every surface.

Primer used was Zinsser Bulls Eye 1.2.3. Worked like a charm.

... and then I let our baby play in it.

All coming together!!!

It is lilac season! Jake and I drove around last night and 'stole' these off of Summit Avenue in St. Paul! They smell delicious and make me very happy.

I recently added some photos above the buffet to accompany the painting by our friend Brian Frink (was a wedding gift). Sometimes I feel all the woodwork in our house feels 'heavy' so I am trying to 'lighten' it up with color.

You can find more of Brian's paintings here, Poor Farm Art

Bar Cabinet Project - I sanded to remove the old finish and to reveal the original wood structure.

Here is a close-up of the finished stain on the larger shelving unit.

I bought some unfinished modular pine shelves off craigslist. We decided to stain them charcoal gray.

This is one of the smaller shelves in progress in progress.
