I can't even tell you how I made this background. I was experimenting with water-based markers on Yupo paper, I kept adding too much water, but you can wipe Yupo off and start over. Did that about 4 times. When I finally got the effect I wanted, I needed to seal it with fixative because it kept smearing, but that didn't go too well, most of the watercolor texture is gone. Still, a rather grainy weird texture was left in its place, so I just added plain white diecuts for a cheery card. To all of you snowed under, hang on! Spring is coming. It's been a while since my Zig Real Brush markers came out to play. I colored these artsy flowers by @simonsaysstamp, then added a script background by @crafterscompus, hello die by @heroarts, and @tonicusa Nuvo drops. On a side note, this is yet another card saved from the trash (along with my sanity) by the @tombow Mono sand eraser. It erased a major boo boo and saved the day. Barely visible now, can you spot it? I did some no-line coloring (I'm not that good at it, so I picked a simple image) using Polychromos pencils on Neenah Desert Storm cardstock. If at first you don't succeed...make a pink background. I was trying out @jennifermcguire's technique for layering #distressoxide inks, my first color palette was too yellow and bright enough to light up a small city, plus I somehow misaligned the @concordand9th Flower Turnabout stamp, and everything ended up in the wrong place‍♀️. Trash that, deep breath, start over. I hardly ever do pink, but I like the final result paired with @simonsaysstamp Modern Rose Blooms. Birthday stamp also by Simon and border die by @crafterscompus. Coffee must be the most celebrated drink in cardmaking😂. Wine, beer, cocktail-themed stamps seem to come and go with the seasons, but coffee always hangs around. I'm sharing another card using @heroarts #mymonthlyhero August 2018 kit. I just love the foam effect of the Puff powder and lacquer together. All elements are from the kit except the mini doilies from @crafterscompus and wood herringbone patterned paper from my stash. Hi, all! For this card I used the loose flower stamps from @simonsaysstamp June 2018 kit. For a slightly different look, I colored them with Prismacolor pencils on black cardstock then drew a few more lines with @crafterscompus metallic markers. I used the embossing folder in the kit and added gilding wax only on the raised areas. I'm entering this card in Simon's Flickr challenge and in @kathyrac #thedailymarker30day.

I posted an alcohol ink background a few weeks back and as much as I liked it, it just called to be cut up with this Torn die by @crafterscompanion. Then I added some Funky Florals from @sizzix/@tim_holtz and a sentiment by @birchpressdesigns. Most of the alcohol ink background still shows and the negative pieces will be used on another card. What do I do with a background that I'm not too happy with? If I absolutely hate it I toss it, but if I'm on the fence, I die cut it into small shapes and see what happens. This was the splotchy background I rejected for my card posted on June 18. The splotches that I hated on the original background give the diecuts some "shading". To create a frame/background for my tea party I die cut corners to match, then used @iostamps Spatter background with shimmery ink for a subtle look. All dies by @crafterscompus. I'm entering this card in @simonsaysstamp Wednesday challenge.
