a situation all with phones dread, the cracked screen.

This is what happens when you skate with your macbook in your backpack

Sounds like a bad super hero name,

Often as I watch our teens,

all of them looking down

at screens.

I can not help but wonder,

what they see when the

screen is always cracked.

Constantly upgrading and

fixing the screen,

is all the life for the

new age teen.

So here I am looking

at my sons phone.

Wondering how to

make art from a

screen that's

cracked.

The LED has colored

lines that can be seen

and the cracks extend

to the edges of the

screen.

Twist it and turn it

and put into place,

an art piece

made from a

teen's screen

when its been

Cracked!

Thor broke my camera! Well, not really, cat knocked it off table, kiddo in attempting to save it landed on it and cracked the screen. Can't afford a new one. Limits my photo taking for awhile. As if I needed another excuse for not taking photos...

Tomorrow the iPhone 4 goes on pre-order sale! I can't wait for the upgrade!

This happened on the second day of our honeymoon. I took it out of the case (I was using the "official" Amazon Kindle leather case), switched it on, and the crack just... *appeared*.

Bit of a bummer, given that I hadn't taken any "proper" books with me. I had to make do with the resort's own bookshelf. Chick lit a go go!

Still, today I emailed Amazon and, within the hour, they phoned me back and agreed to send me a free replacement.

I'm going to buy a different case, though - just in case that was the cause of the problem.

(PS: I finally wrote a blog post about owning a Kindle... so if you're wondering whether to get one, have a read.)

The story had a happy ending. I got to the Apple Store in Trumbull, CT the same evening as the break (yay, online reservation system!). They attempted to replace the screen for $149, but it failed so they gave me a replacement phone for $79 instead! (Normal phone replacement service outside of AppleCare warranty is $349.) I am a happy customer in the end.

And yes, I have a new much more protective case on it now!

Got Insurance? Another Blackberry Bold bites the dust via LCD crack. The screens on these devices are really fragile so please be careful with them. As you can see from the comment below the screen really is this devices achillis heel.

This poor Blackberry Bold meet its fate when it was dropped at the Rose Garden during a Portland Blazer's NBA game. And a lesson not learned, as the guy bought a new one at $550, and again did not get insurance.

Broken phones are no fun, please be careful with your high end smartphones. And this guy lost all his data too.

Our Daily Challenge: Button or Buttons

FYI: The Iphone really doesn't like to be dropped onto cement :( , but being a photographer, I did have to see the abstract beauty of the cracked glass emanating from the button and, of course, the lovely bokeh, LOL.

Another faux Holga edit. I'm kind of obsessed right now.

I'm also "kind of" stressed over my new monitor and the color profile. I've about decided I'm going to have to fork over another $60-$100 bucks to get a calibration system. I really don't want to do that, but I managed to get things all screwed up yesterday trying to do things manually. I fixed my mess (I think), but I still need to calibrate. It's going to be the death of me.

bought december 20th, 2009. We asked if we could plug it in before we went home to see if it worked, but the salesman urged us to just try it at home and return it if there was a problem.

The Otter Box Defender Case is one of the toughest cases for the Apple Iphone 3G/3GS. But alas it can't survive being ran over by a jeep.

It's only fair I post a least one broken Iphone seeing how I have a couple of broken blackberrys in the mix.

Funny thing is, besides the cracked screen, it works just fine. Just hard to see in the upper corner.

Oh, S1, it's been a great 2.5 years!

Broken since 9/10

A poor HTC Pure sees it's end. It was purely own'd.

It powers on and the touchscreen still works, though cracked. Anyone willing to recommend a good place to have this device repaired ?

I have a history of breaking things half way.

- The iPod whose screen I cracked but could still play for several months by blindly navigating through the menus (my memory's that good)

- the shower door whose door bar broke off and which fell off its tracks, but which I can still slide by lifting and shoving with just the right force

- the laptop whose screen cracked but which I continued to use for another three years using first a big-ass 21" CRT and then finally a 22" LCD

- the entire house which has carpet ripped up everywhere but whose rooms remain completely functional as office and home theatre and bedrooms and bathrooms

- the several vehicles that i drove around with Bondo after a collision i didn't want to pay to fix

- the couch whose frame i broke while catching one of my favourite self portraits

- the fence that got knocked down and which i replaced last summer, but whose gate no one but me can figure out how to open

- the mouse whose specialised rechargeable batteries don't charge unless you open the case and twist the batteries every other day

- the brand new computer whose wireless antennae I snapped while opening the case to put in a new hard drive the first day I owned it

- the amplifier whose volume nob no longer works, so you have to control the volume through the remote control only (if you can find it)

- the halogen torchiere lamp that turns on only if you roll the dimmer switch back and forth several times until it catches but which you can't turn all the way up or it will turn itself off after three minutes

- the marriage which transformed into a two and a half year period of emotional limbo and waffling long-distance relationship with a best friend i saw and slept with every six months.

I can't seem to break anything completely. and yet i can't seem to keep things whole or well, either.

i managed to drop my cell phone this past week. i can still use it, mostly, but certain features are difficult to navigate through if you can't see the screen for the results. also, it's no longer functional as a calculator or a clock, which i honestly used it for far more frequently than as a phone

my last phone Macy ate. the phone before that i also dropped and cracked the screen, but continued to use it for a year and a half before finally replacing it. at least when Macy breaks something, she knows how to destroy it utterly.

On sunday my iPhone 3G (right) died after 15 months after I got it as a replacement of my original iPhone 3G (which had its GSM chip fried). Since July it started going on the fritz with a white screen of death, and then screen cracked not long after.

So ever since I was looking frantically for an iPhone 4 to replace it. I was hoping to wait until around xmas to replace it but I couldn't go 2+ months with using an HTC TyTn. Well... I was lucky... the local Futureshop got a bunch of iPhone 4s in stock the day before, and I knew I had to buy it then and there. $220 later and a new 3 year contract with Rogers (which I was planning on leaving in the summer) I have an iPhone again! So far the iPhone 4 (week 39.. so last week) is pretty sweet, LOVE multitasking, the cameras are AWESOME (love the ability to do portraits with ease now), and other things.. it's pretty cool. The proximity sensor is a bit of a pain as it keeps turning on and off, but it doesn't really bug me for the most part. I'm scared to drop the iPhone 4, it's much more fragile than my overly abused iPhone 3G. Well I'm ordering a case and hope it comes here ASAP.
