In 1983, the Art Gallery of Guelph (AGG) grounds were developed into the Donald Forster Sculpture Park to be used for permanently sited sculptures, temporary installations of large-scale pieces, and an outdoor activity space for events like children’s art classes. The outdoor sculpture collection is enhanced with landscaping elements such as paved areas, lighting, berms, and plantings appropriate to the design of the park and siting of individual works. The objective is to acquire sculptures that represent the best work being produced in Canada while including some examples of historical and international works. The Sculpture Park is a unique tourist attraction for the city and region and an important educational resource for area educational institutions. Six commissions have been funded with the generous support of du Maurier Arts Ltd. The AGG Volunteer Association has also contributed to the development of the Sculpture Park by raising art acquisition funds through the annual Gardenscapes garden tour. This outstanding venue for permanent sculpture by Canadian artists ranks among the best and most diverse sculpture parks in Canada.
The Donald Forster Sculpture Park, located on two-and-a-half acres adjacent to the building, is a major curatorial project that contributes significantly to AGG’s overall programming objective to present exhibitions, research, and a dynamic collection of contemporary Canadian Art. It is the largest sculpture park at a public gallery in Canada, featuring 39 works by prominent Canadian and international artists. The Sculpture Park is open daily from dawn to dusk.
Crab Leg’s (Studio) by Kim Adams (born 1951, lives and works in Grand Valley, ON) is the artist’s “dream studio,” which includes a combined living and working space that is about one-third life-sized in scale. The bottom level of the studio is designed for creating sculptures, while the upper levels are for living and contain kitchen, bedroom, and reading areas. The sculpture is fitted onto railway tracks, implying that the artist could transport his entire life and practice to any location reachable by rail. Adams produced a utopian object where art and utility are juxtaposed: it is a transportation device, a shelter, and a studio. Adams addresses our modern human need for security, comfort, mobility, and ownership while questioning our values and standards for living. In this way, the artist has combined two objects that appear to be opposites–a vehicle and architecture–commenting on contemporary urban life with its increasing mobility. By using mass produced and industrial objects, Crab Legs (Studio) is made to appear engineered, re-configuring our notions of art, architecture, and even home. The end result is something at once familiar and alien, logical and illogical.
These crispy chicken, juicy steaks, glistening flavorful noodles and meaty crab legs are definitely not ready for me.

At Meo Mio's Cajun & Seafood restaurant in Bath Springs, Tennessee. Steamed crab legs, boiled corn and potatoes with white beans and coleslaw.
There are 22 different species of Ghost Crab in the world and 3 in Africa with many sub species, so it was a bit tough figuring out which species it was exactly, so we’ll just call this a Ghost Crab for now. Ocypoda is the Latin name for ghost crabs, it means “swift-footed.”
We were constantly entertained by these little creatures, they are not very big at all, but ‘large’ on entertainment. They are about 3.75 to 5 cm (1.5 to 2 in) across their carapace/shell with 4 sets of walking legs and 1 pair of white claws. Thanks to their powerful hind legs, these crabs can move at astonishing speeds across the sand. They also have these really neat eyestalks that are club shaped and stand out on top of their body with the capability of rotating them 360 degrees while looking for predators and food.
Ghost crabs have relatively short lifespans, commonly living for a maximum of two to three years, although during their short time on earth, these crabs play an essential role in maintaining the delicate balance of the beach ecosystem.
We watched them dig their burrows in the sand, using their claws to dig down and then push the sand up against their caprice/shell and run out of the burrow and toss the sand, repeating until they reach the size of burrow they want. These burrows not only serve as a safe haven from predators but also as a means to regulate body temperature and humidity. When threatened, ghost crabs retreat to the safety of their burrows, disappearing within seconds. Their burrows have multiple entrances and exits, allowing them to quickly escape from potential danger. Additionally, the intricate tunnel systems provides ventilation ensuring a constant flow of fresh air within the burrow. These crabs are known to be fastidious architects, constantly maintaining and modifying their burrows. This constant maintenance ensures their survival in the challenging beach environment.

Created for the All-Around Awesome Weekly Theme, FOOD.
So its been a while since my last post... I started my 2nd year of medschool and it's really cutting into my free time (but i suppose it'll be worth it in the end). So to free my mind of the impending doom that is pathology, I decided to spend the evening diving under the moon. Thats right... I went on a night dive, and I can't think of a better way I could have spent my Friday night!
Spotted this little fella at "1/4 wreck" a dive site off the southwest coast of Grenada. Not 100% sure of the species name but I believe it is Dardanus calidus. But for all us non-marine biology majors, its a hermit crab... with hairy legs!
Hermit crabs are decapod crustaceans of the superfamily Paguroidea. They conceal their asymmetrical bodies in empty gastropod shells for protection, and will change shells as they grow. Unlike "normal" crabs, their bodies are soft and only appear "crab-like" when they are viewed from the front or in their mobile home.
These funny little creatures are nocturnal and are rarely seen during the day.
I don't eat crab, but the bright orange colour grabbed my attention at the grocery. Reminds me of the creature from Alien.
Took my new baby for a trip to the market. I don't feel like she's mine quite yet. We're still strangers. But we're getting to know each other and I think it'll be a beautiful relationship.
Rusty's is a restaruant at Cocoa Beach. We ate outside and watched the dolphins and pelicans. Rusty's snow crablegs are delicious!

Taken on the same day as this. I don't know what to upload anymore now that my Project 365 is over, haha. Viewing it on black makes it pop. Actually, it might look better on white. I'm the most indecisive person ever.
I've spent the past few days trying to bring my American Politics grade up because I slacked off for the whole five weeks (summer school) of the course duration. I just finished the final with a good score, but it's not my test grades that I'm worried about... Anyway, I'm currently running on only one hour of sleep and had work all day, so I better get some rest now. Have a good weekend, everyone!
P.S. Thank you, Annie, for the awesome testimonial!
