This corn field is located on top of a hill along one of my walking trails. The farmer had already harvested the corn but a few stalks were still standing.

I live in a farm house that is in the range of 130 years old. There are all kinds of nooks and crannies so we get visitors from time to time. I shot this early this morning. And yes.....we do have cats. We have three cats and none seemed too interested in catching this little mouse. So I guess it's up to me. Thanks Kitties.
Vermont's vibrant summer green landscape is the perfect backdrop for the barn red color that surfaces throughout its countryside.

Edited for Smile on Saturday's #bokeh in monotone theme
(With a note of thanks to Maria and her team for the inspiring ideas and hard work that they put into this group. I might not like every theme, or have time to take part every week, and occasionally I've got things wrong, but it's truly the most supportive of groups here in Flickrland.)
I attended a World War II reenactment in Dixon, Illinois, on Saturday and spotted this immaculate 1940s era Dodge parked on the grounds. So I shot it in HDR and took it for a spin in Topaz Impression for Sliders Sunday, and for Our Daily Challenge: Auto.
HSS!
Flickr friends, I was offline all day on Saturday, but will aim to catch up with comments on Sunday.
We have perfect weather here today for a day down at the lake, but what I saw there yesterday made me decide to spend the day on my balcony instead... crowded beaches, camping sites full up, lots and lots of lovely fellow humans competing for the most extensive sunburn, not to mention other medical issues. Quarantine and lockdown made me forget how many of these people exist 😅
Have a happy weekend everybody 😎

Brighton Methodist Church
Built in 1881 by Norwegian immigrants, Brighton Methodist Church, the small country chapel shown here, cost $1,800 to build - a fortune at the time.
Rural churches were an important social part of family life in the 1880s. On Sunday, the family would dress in their Sunday best clothes for the church service and social gathering that followed the services.
This was often viewed as an opportunity to escape the hard work and isolation of farm life.
As soon as a settlement was established, the local families would join together to build a church for their community.
Many of the churches had strong ethnic and cultural ties to the specific nationality of the settlement. It was not uncommon to hear a sermon in German, Norwegian, or Swedish instead of English.
After the church closed in 1984, it was donated to Farmamerica by the congregation.
