After wearing out grandad, they count their spoils for the day. They are so active, they look like matchstick with some wood shaved off!
As soon as they come to visit us, its off to the beach just half a mile away, and collect shells to take home

With a new computer and a new camera, I am finally catching up on getting photos of recent (meaning last Christmas) projects. I made this accordion-style soft book for my preschooler from this fabric at Spoonflower, a fat quarter of a batik my son picked (for the backing) out, fusible fleece, and some ribbon.

Johan, son of Count Fredrich was a rising star in the German army.
It was whilst on summer leave in1938 that he met his mother’s new chambermaid, Greta. Their blossoming romance was at odds with the politics of Johan’s parents so they strove to keep it a secret. As more and more of Greta’s community were targeted by the secret police and ghettoised, her position within the household became untenable. Johann knew more, he knew that Greta’s very life was in danger and that time was tight.
On midsummer’s night they left without warning, planning to get to Switzerland before anyone noticed.
But they were spotted by the butler and now they are being hunted by the secret police – the Gestapo.
If caught, he will be shot as a deserter and for her: a fate much, much worse…
ice can be nice, but not when it's raining from the sky, i've decided.
the ice storm that moved through here yesterday was nasty. plain and simple. it coated everything outside: plants, trees, cars, individual blades of grass...it was simply incredible.
our big tree out front couldn't quite handle the added load of all the ice, and it finally dropped a massive limb at lunch time. the limb hung over our porch, right outside our daughter's window. luckily, instead of dropping straight down, it kind of rolled away from the house. one branch scraped up our vinyl siding, popping a few holes in it, but none bigger than a couple of fingers. another caught the gutter in one place and bent it out, but i think we can pound it back into place.
all in all, we're quite blessed. the weather looks like it will even get a little sunny tomorrow, so things are looking up.

Saw the Counting Crows perform in Dallas last night & all I can say is PHENOMENAL! This was the 5th time I've seen them live & it very well could be the best performance thus far. I look forward to many more. Here they are singing the song Miami from the Hard Candy album.
