Fietspad Het Stift richting Weerselo

Knooppunt 76

Het Stift in Weerselo is een eeuwenoud beschermd dorpsgezicht. Een voormalig Benedictijnenklooster uit de 12e eeuw en vanaf de 14e eeuw een Stift, waar ongehuwde dames van adel woonden.

This guy was singing his sweet little heart out this morning as the sun rose. I counted six males staking out territories in the Conservation Reserve grass fields on my dad's home farm.

Silvretta pass, Austria. The easiest way to the pass is by car, as you can see. Too many, unfortunately, especially in summer. Most people stay in the restaurants or have a quick look at the lake, before driving further. However, when you walk 10 minutes from the parking spot, the only thing you see and hear is nature. And nature around this lake is magnificient!

Temple of the Count another elegant Classic Palenque temple, which got its name from the fact that early explorer Jean Frederic Waldeck lived in the building for some time, and Waldeck claimed to be a count.

Snowy Egret (Egretta thula). Riverstone Wetlands, Sugar Land, Texas.

The spectrum of colors we enjoy in Nature can be infinite. The hues, the depth and the richness in the combinations we witness don’t go unnoticed. Whether the colors are in a sunrise or a sunset, in the colorful leaves of a warm sunny Autumn day or the freshest of flowers on a Spring morning, when enjoying these colors let’s remember too that, “Softness Counts.” Softness can almost be felt within a given presentation. Thanks for viewing my work.

Last year at this time we had found nine Barred Owls in one day, this year my count is up to five. The mossy Maple is one of my favourite areas to find them.

Yesterday was the last day for the 2022 Christmas Bird Count, and I was part of a group that canvassed an area near the Mississippi River on the Illinois side. We had a fair number of eagles-- at least a couple dozen-- but this guy was kind enough to approach and give us a fly-by.

Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep

Dreaming about the things we could be

But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard

Said, no more counting dollars

We'll be counting stars

Yeah, we'll be counting stars..

Tune: Counting Stars

The sun rises on the mountainous Stansbury Island and the shoreline of the Great Salt Lake, Utah.

Think of a big crowd

floating by like clouds;

they baa going by

softly 'cross the sky

and just like one of those

you will drift off and close

your eyes.

Working nights this week and literally counting sheep during the day! This trio couldn't have posed any better at the top of the hills - wished the photographer took a sharper pic... but she was and is rather sleep deprived xxx. Thanks for visiting my photostream.

The leaves of the Muscari plants fill my flower garden. Soon I'll remove the layer of soft Autumn leaves and greet the soil once again. Here's to digging in soil and celebrating new growth. Come on, Spring!

Happy Thanksgiving to U.S. friends!

a note about the bokeh in the background: it's a piece of kitchen tin (aluminum) foil taped to the wall behind the cake and lit with a flashlight - a trick I picked up somewhere on the interwebs

is a castle in Austria, considered one of Austria's most impressive medieval castles. It is on a 172-metre (564 ft) high dolomite rock near Sankt Georgen am Längsee, east of the town of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia. The rock castle is one of the state's landmarks and a major tourist attraction.

The castle was first mentioned in a deed of donation from King Ludwig the German from the year 860, when Friesach and several farms were donated to the diocese of Salzburg. Among them was a farm near Osterwitz (curtis ad Astaruizza). The castle is mentioned in the oldest documents, dated between the 11th and 12th centuries, and also during the attacks of the Turkish peoples in the 15th century as a place of refuge for the population. Initially owned by Count Ceizolf von Spanheim, a descendant of the German Emperor Arnulf von Karantanien, known as the first Donor von Osterwitz, the castle remains in his family's possession. After the death of Hans Schenk von Osterwitz on May 30, 1478, the last of his tribe, his property passed to King Friedrich III. return.

This is a dutch saying; who counts his buttons is uncertain about something and tries to make a decision with the buttons of his vest, blouse or shirt as a tool.

This was Loweswater in the English Lake District last week, days off work were spent counting clouds, turns out my husband is much better at it than me, I keep getting distracted.

I'll sail the world to find you

If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see

I'll be the light to guide you
