The cough mother chapel in Postmünster an der Rott, it was built in 1748. People with sore throats and coughs used to make pilgrimages to the chapel and hoped for recovery. That's where the name comes from.

Wheatear bringing up a pellet 🤔 Never seen this before and happy to be corrected. Only noticed it going through shots once home. Sadly i missed the head shake and dispersal.

What a treat to be able to combine wildlife and landscape photography! Alpine coughs are part of the crow family. They pair for life, may nest at higher altitudes than any other bird and they quite like my cereal bars!

Looking out from Old Parliament House into the smoke haze from bush fires. Canberra. On a clear day you can easily see across the lake, past the Australian War Memorial building and the hills beyond.

Today’s theme for the Macro Monday’s group is MEDICAL. This is a photo of the top of a small bottle of cough mixture.

Thanks for visiting.

Macro Mondays: "Heart"

COVID finally caught me last week. I got great care and have gotten past most of the cold/flu symptoms. This simple over-the-counter cough drop was a staple in the first few days of the infection. A little heart shaped bokeh for effect.

Thanks to all who comment or mark as a favorite it really is much appreciated.

Or as we would say in Norfolk, suck one when you have a bad tizzick.

Government has declared an end to most of the anti-Covid-19 guidelines during the next couple of weeks. Apparently there's less coughing...

Tussilago down through the millennia has served as an antidote to coughing as indeed its name suggests. But it does apparently wreak havoc on the liver. So it must be used with caution.

I've posted an earlier picture of our Sunny plant from Groningen (www.flickr.com/photos/87453322@N00/8650629309/in/photolis...). This one though was taken yesterday in Shaffy's Tuin here in Amsterdam.

Got to Burnaby Lake to see the Sandhill Crane pair and their colt. The youngster seemed to have what I can only describe as an open mouthed cough. Though he was feeding and exploring it seems a concern, hopefully it passes,

The angles of light have also come for my many long lost...long dead followers. Are you still here? Seriously.

BG - VARONIS - "Mad Stalls" @ Equal 10

Although this plant is often cultivated and grown in flower gardens it is actually a native wildflower. This particular plant was blooming in a hedgerow behind the barn. It first apeared about two years ago and has now multiplied until there is a nice golden patch along the split rail fence.

Field notes: In addition to displayng a brilliant yellow bloom, golden Ragwort is known for its medicinal properites. And has long been used as an anti-inflammatory, cough suppressent and muscle relaxer. It should however, be noted that like many herbs and medicinals it has its own accompanying side affects and should be used with care .

Puerile I know, but can you think of a better title?

Not terribly anatomically correct either.

Coughing up a pellet while feeding on a rat

"I coughed a lot last night and kept both my mom and me up lots of the night. So I got zoomed off to see Dr. Bahou at 9 a.m. He touched my throat without permission and so I hacked a big cough at him. He said, 'Yes, Bordetella - AKA Kennel Cough'.

Really? I don't go to kennels or even to the dog park because I eat tennis balls. So now I have to take a pill twice a day which is hidden in something yummy. I can easily work it around and spit it out but then it gets put on the back of my tongue and I have to swallow. Ugh!

The worst part is no playing with Gracie for 10 days!! That's right, 10 days! I'm upset and will not look at that camera, just going to sit here with my favorite toy and look unhappy."

Coughing up a pellet.

Not coughing up a pellet on this occasion, just a big yawn.

Coughing up a pellet

I was watching this female Kingfisher as it sat quite quietly . I decided to put on the 2x converter to see how it stood up quality wise on the 600. Just as I switched the camera back on and refocused on her, she started acting very strange....... well I thought, it is a female lol. Then all of a sudden she regurgitated this huge fish pellet. I knew they did such things, but had never seen it before !!

Eveglades, FL - We were excited to see the Loggerhead Shrike and then it started coughing and hacked up this pellet.

Pauling Farm, Valley Forge

The first scientific description of this dark-red to black-flowering Pelargonium is by Carl Peter Thunberg (1743-1828), whom I've often mentioned in these pages. The 'father of South African Botany' or the 'Japanese Linnaeus' collected plants in South Africa during his stay at the Cape 1772-1775 in the service of the Dutch East Indies Trading Company (VOC). He published his description of our Pelargonium under the name Geranium sidaefolium (1800 and 1823). Meanwhile the famed Swiss botanist Augustin Pyramus de Candolle (1778-1841) was revising the name 'Geraninium'. In 1824 Candolle printed Thunberg's find as Pelargonium sidoides.

Our Purple-Black Wonder has many common names among them African Pelargonium as well it might be called because it is so widespread in South Africa, growing nearly at sea-level to the heights of Lesotho at 2300 m. An obvious name, too, is Black Pelargonium.

It's well-known among the peoples of South Africa as folk medicine against a variety of coughing ailments. And a report of around 1900 tells us that a Boer by the name of J.N. Uys of Rietfontein claimed that it can be used as a cure for worms in livestock, notably calves. There's even a recipe on how to prepare a medicinal potion to that purpose from Sidoides's roots and foliage. Hence its name in Afrikaans: Kalwerbossie. It's not something though, I think, our European Honeybee (inset) would relish; she's after pollen...

It took me a while to figure out what to shoot for this challenge. I only carry keys, wallet, and phone. But I do carry cough drops in my jackets, so this will have to do. Black acrylic sheet and lit with window light.
