Lavender Cotton blooms taken at the Melbourne Botanical Gardens. This species is Santolina Virens. They are quite small, the one in focus measures about 1.5 cm in diameter.
The knees get a good work out because they are less than a foot above the ground.

Santolina are aromatic, dwarf evergreen shrubs with entire or pinnately dissected leaves and dense, button-like flower-heads in summer
S. chamaecyparissus is a dwarf evergreen shrub with narrow, silvery-woolly, much dissected leaves and long-stalked, button-like bright yellow flowerheads 2cm in width.
As you well know Bridal Falls in the Fraser Valley is one of the busiest falls around Vancouver. What to do when you can't get a full shot of the falls because the tourists are blocking the view? Pull out the telephoto and get something gorgeous like this!! Kris ...

My "cotton balls" got a bit messy over time. When I tried to pick the dry bits off the "wool" started to unravel so I left it. I used a piece of denim as background to make it doubly cotton.

They were PINK dammit. When did the orange get in? Definitely pink or rose even. (Was I wearing my virtual rose coloured spectacles?)

Macro Mondays challenge this week was "Cotton." The blanket was hand knit by my mother about thirty years ago. This is a 2"x1-3/4" view of her handiwork. HMM!

Tectocoris diophthalmus, commonly known as the Hibiscus Harlequin Bug or Cotton Harlequin Bug, is a brightly coloured convex and rounded shield-shaped bug with a metallic sheen that grows to about 20 mm. Adult females are mostly orange and males are both blue and red or orange. The colours are quite variable. It lives in Northern and Eastern Australia, New Guinea and several Pacific Islands in habitats ranging from urban to agricultural and coastal areas.
The Hibiscus Harlequin Bugs feed on many species of the Hibiscus family (Malvaceae), as well as cultivated cotton. They will also eat Illawarra flame tree flowers, grevillea and bottlebrush saplings.
They are also known as "stink bugs" as they have scent glands which produce a bad smell which, when it is emitted by one bug, triggers others in the group, multiplying the bad smell.
The light has been creeping in all morning as the Sun rises, appearing through cracks in the canopy, flowing over the top, bathing all in it's warming light.
