It is 08:37 in the morning as train 5781 the 21:27 Paris Austerlitz - Nice sleeper round the corner at Antheor-Cap-Roux. By my reckoning the train is running about 10 minutes late, but this has worked out just fine, a large gap in the cloud has opened over the Nez Cassé on the Côte d'Azur just at the right time- I can't quite believe it with today's weather forecast.

The icing on top of the cake is to see BB22343 in its original 'concrete' livery at the head of the train (I had feared a non-liveried 'ghost' loco, or worse, a peeling Sybic!), and of course the photograph is helped by the road being completely empty of cars- not the case when the previous EMU had passed!

I had three mornings on this trip to attempt photographs of this overnight train, and it turned out to be very fortuitous that it all worked out on day one; the following day it was raining, and then due to engineering works the weekend trains did not run!
