Musée d’Orsay
Nuit des musées européens et découverte de l’exposition Yves Saint-Laurent. Un très bon moment passé dans ce magnifique musée.
Le musée d’Orsay est un musée national inauguré en 1986.
Situé dans le 7e de Paris le long de la rive gauche de la Seine, en surplomb de la promenade Édouard-Glissant, il est installé dans l’ancienne gare d'Orsay, construite par Victor Laloux de 1898 à 1900 et réaménagée en musée sur décision du président de la République Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. Ses collections présentent l’art occidental de 1848 à 1914, dans toute sa diversité : peinture, sculpture, arts décoratifs, art graphique, photographie, architecture, etc. Il est l’un des plus grands musées d’Europe pour cette période.
Le musée possède la plus importante collection de peintures impressionnistes et postimpressionnistes au monde, avec près de 1 100 toiles au total sur plus de 3 650, et l’on peut y voir des chefs-d’œuvre de la peinture et de la sculpture comme Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe et l’Olympia d’Édouard Manet, une épreuve de La Petite Danseuse de quatorze ans de Degas, L'Origine du monde, Un enterrement à Ornans, L'Atelier du peintre de Courbet, Les Joueurs de cartes de Cézanne ou encore cinq tableaux de la Série des Cathédrales de Rouen de Monet et Bal du moulin de la Galette de Renoir.
The Musée d'Orsay is a national museum inaugurated in 1986.
Located in the 7th district of Paris along the left bank of the Seine, overlooking the Édouard-Glissant promenade, it is housed in the former Gare d'Orsay, built by Victor Laloux from 1898 to 1900 and converted into a museum on decision of the President of the Republic Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. Its collections present Western art from 1848 to 1914, in all its diversity: painting, sculpture, decorative arts, graphic art, photography, architecture, etc. It is one of the largest museums in Europe for this period.
The museum has the largest collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings in the world, with nearly 1,100 canvases in total out of more than 3,650, and masterpieces of painting and sculpture such as Luncheon on the Grass and the Olympia by Édouard Manet, a proof of The Little Dancer Aged Fourteen by Degas, The Origin of the World, A Burial at Ornans, The Painter's Studio by Courbet, The Card Players by Cézanne or even five paintings from the Series of Rouen Cathedrals by Monet and Bal du moulin de la Galette by Renoir.

"A Subtle Tactical Dispute"
A tight crop of the frame eliminates the street crowd, focusing strictly on the central trio and their prop horse, transforming a chaotic festival moment into an intimate, absurd stage play.
Since the characters' faces express the ultimate degree of pensiveness, absurdity, and light melancholy, I decided to create a monologue in the style of classic commedia dell'arte mixed with public square satire.
Characters:
* The Knight (in a deep helmet and chainmail)
* Pierrot (in a red textured suit with a fluffy ruff)
* The Girl in the Wreath (stuck right in the middle)
* The Horse (prop, exhausted)
- The Knight (muffled from under the visor): We need to breach the enemy's right flank. Pierrot, your baked-cherry-colored costume will serve as excellent camouflage in the bushes of... baked cherries. Maiden in the wreath, you provide air support. Horse, wake up! What is our tactical plan?
- Pierrot (sighing mournfully, tilting his head): My only plan is to mourn the imperfection of this world and the lack of funding for our independent theater. And frankly, Sir Knight, why are you giving orders when your armor is just a cooking pot with a spike, and your cavalry is a mop on a stick?
- The Girl in the Wreath (looking suspiciously at the camera): Guys, I get it, it's a medieval teambuilding. But why are we standing on the asphalt in a residential area, watched by three hundred people with iPhones, while this beast... (nods at the horse) ...has been trying to eat my dandelion wreath for the past half hour?
- The Horse (glancing with a cloth eye): First of all, those are not dandelions, it's calendula, I know my herbal medicine. Secondly, Sir Knight weighs as much as a cast-iron bridge, and my running gear consists of just one plastic leg and an extra's word of honor. If we don't head toward the buffet right now, I’m going on strike and turning back into foam rubber.

At the Finale, the figure of Lilith wraps things up (I made her look like Mother Nature, in green of different textures and here and there a colored rhinestone or two for sparkle.
Back to Methuselah (A Metabiological Pentateuch) is a 1921 series of five plays and a preface by George Bernard Shaw. It was performed by the Los Angeles Repertoy Theater in it's entirety (on two separate nights)- it spans from Adam and Eve into the far, far future).

Jacob, having wrestled with an Angel of The Lord all night, asks the Angel to bless him. The Angel blesses him and says henceforth his name shall be Israel (Yisrael in Hebrew) He who contends with The Lord.
I shot Jacob And The Angel in the theatre at yesterday's (May 30th, 2014) dress rehearsal of "Arizona Ballet Theatre Salutes The Americas 2014." The lighting is dramatically low, so I had to shoot at slower shutter speeds than I like to use.
Performances were the following Saturday Evening at 6 pm and Sunday Matinee at 3 pm, in the University Of Arizona's Stevie Eller Dance Theatre.
Wonderful #psychedelicportrait shoot and great conversation with Canadian production designer Michael Levine whose work is extraordinarily spare and pithy. So beautiful! Turns out we knew loads of people in common in the early 1980s. Michael has worked internationally in Opera, Dance and Theatre for the past forty years - most recently on Madam Butterfly for Bregenz Festival; Turandot Amsterdam; Peter Grimes for Royal Opera, Paris Opera, Teatro Real.
Colours were achieved in studio with mild tweaks in post production.
