I've seen coyotes in our neighborhood before, but never a wolf! Luckily it was just a cub, and the mother seemed friendly :)
“O, to be sure, we laugh less and play less and wear uncomfortable disguises like adults, but beneath the costume is the child we always are, whose needs are simple, whose daily life is still best described by fairy tales.”

This Heliconius numata aristiona butterfly, in addition to being beautiful, has an impressive costume. Perhaps a camouflage against predators. You can see it? Look for the almost hidden terrifying butterfly with its dark wings and a red-eyed skull under the main butterfly's head. (Best in Large)

dial m for masterpiece. this has to be my all-time favorite costume!! i found the shot at the oregon historical society when researching images for my little postcard company. i've used the original title and here's the rest: ruth & earl pinegar's prize-winning costume at the mad art ball of the portland art directors club. 11/23/1959 photographer: frank sterrett. EDIT: as of 5/18, someone else has decided to take this version of the image from my stream and put it on theirs. i'm not the photographer but i did work on it to make it more presentable, and would appreciate it if people could ask before swiping stuff. and i think it only fair and within the photographer's rights to be given credit whenever the image is displayed.

Dog Costume Contest
I'm not suggesting this for your dog, or any dog - I'm just reporting on dogs and owners (see other photos in comments) that not only chase lures, but compete in costume contests (the dogs and the owners!!!!) - see the photos in the comments if you don't believe me - all revealed to me was new to me - I'd never seen this behavior in humans with dogs before - well maybe a few in a circus long ago.
