What a fitting name for a sailboat. I looked up the full definition: A piece of music sung or played in the open air, typically by a man at night under the window of his lover. I really loved the time I spent on my sailboat. I don't have one anymore but I think about it often.
I have so much fun doing these. I keep trying to expand and grow my talent.
I quit my job. Between the job and doctor appointments I was only existing and not enjoying life. My B&B is doing well and growing, so I'll have that income plus my retirement. I will miss the big bucks but I'm OK with it all

The Corpus Christi Cathedral in Corpus Christi, Texas. I took this shot from my hotel room. Here's some info from the Internet
Dominic Manucy, first vicar apostolic of Brownsville, moved to Corpus Christi from Brownsville in 1875. He described St. Patrick's as "a small church that is tumbling down" and solicited funds from residents and from the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. Work on a new church, a frame building on Carancahua Street, began in 1880; services were held in late 1882. Completion of the church was aided by donations of time and labor by the architect-builder, Charles Carroll. The old church was reportedly torn down in 1882. The Vicariate Apostolic of Brownsville was elevated to the rank of a diocese, taking the name of the see city, Corpus Christi, with St. Patrick's as the cathedral. Paul Nussbaum served as the first bishop from 1913 until his resignation in 1920. Pope Benedict XV appointed Emmanuel B. Ledvina to succeed Nussbaum in 1921. Due to Ledvina's illness, in 1936 Pius XII named Mariano S. Garriga diocesan coadjutor. The bishops began a fund drive for the building of a new cathedral. A site at Upper Broadway and Lipan streets known as City Bluff, overlooking Corpus Christi Bay, was donated by the John G. Kenedy, Jr., family. An old Kenedy family home on the property was moved to allow for construction. Ground was broken on March 1, 1939. The cornerstone was laid on March 1, 1940; on July 17, Corpus Christi Cathedral was dedicated.

Corpus Christi means Body of Christ. It is a religious feast of the Catholic Church that aims to celebrate the mystery of the Eucharist, the sacrament of the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
The feast of Corpus Christi always takes place 60 days after Easter Sunday or on the Thursday following the Sunday of the Holy Trinity, in allusion to Holy Thursday when Jesus instituted the sacrament of the Eucharist.

View into the quadrangle at Corpus Christi college, Oxford university. The tall pillar next to the three students is known as the Pelican sundial, erected in 1581 by Charles Tunball.
And I want cookie-points for being able to identify where I had taken this photo - it was over a year and a half ago, and we literally were rushing past it! The Internet is your friend....
Sunrise in Corpus Christi, TX. I haven't been there is sometime. I like it there but I like Galveston better. Galveston is set up for tourist. Lots to do and see.

Selena Quintanilla-Pérez statue in Corpus Christi. She was the female singer who was murdered by her book keeper.
The weather is still ugly, rainy and cold..To us..;) Traffic is already a huge problem here in Austin, and now the President is coming to town. Some of the better companies are letting there employee's off early. Luckily, I work out of town and the streets should be flowing by the time I blow in. Here's some info on Selena
Selena was an American singer who achieved international fame as a member of Selena y Los Dinos and for her subsequent solo career.[nb 1] Her father and manager, Abraham Quintanilla, Jr., appointed Yolanda Saldívar president of Selena's fan club in 1991 after Saldívar had repeatedly asked permission to start one. In January 1994, Saldívar was promoted to manager of the singer's boutiques. Selena's employees, fashion designer, and cousin began complaining about Saldívar's management style. In January 1995, Quintanilla, Jr., began receiving telephone calls and letters from angry fans who had sent membership payments and had received nothing in return. He began investigating their complaints and found evidence that Saldívar had embezzled $60,000 from the fan club and the boutiques using forged checks. After the Quintanilla family confronted her, Saldívar bought a gun, lured Selena to a motel room, and shot her in the back. Although doctors tried to revive Selena, she was pronounced dead from loss of blood and cardiac arrest.
The Hispanic community was deeply affected by the news of Selena's death; some people traveled thousands of miles to visit her house, boutiques, and the crime scene, while churches with large congregations of Hispanics held prayers in her name. All major television networks in the United States interrupted their regular programming to break the news. The public reaction to Selena's death was compared to those that followed the deaths of John Lennon, Elvis Presley, and John F. Kennedy.
In March I had an opportunity to visit my sister in Victoria, Texas. While visiting we toured many areas where I was able to get a photo shoot in. The first travels took us to Corpus Christi where I ate at Joes Crab Shack. These photo images were all taken inside and outside of the restaurant. From a spot near the flags in the previous image, this is the Corpus Christi skyline from one of the many parks lining Corpus Christi Bay, from across a small inlet (the main bay is off to the right). You can see it is a very nice November afternoon with the temp hovering around 80F/27C. The trees are mesquite (I think), an invasive evergreen.
Specifically, the beautiful New Court, on a cold and rainy December day during a trip home to England. I stood facing the Chapel - the third the college has had and completed in 1827 along with the rest of New Court. Designed by William Wilkins RA who is buried within the Chapel.
Established in 1352, Corpus Christi is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge.
I believe this is Gothic Revival architecture, but please correct me if wrong.

Another Fan-Vaulted ceiling. This one at Corpus Christi - a College that dates back to 1352.
The main Gate House here looks through to New Court, built in the 1820s. This view is one of the most photographed in Cambridge according to the College's website.

This is the Harbor Bridge over the ship channel at the Port of Corpus Christi, also know as the Nueces River. The steel trusses and concrete surface are rigid enough to support a lot of weight.
Corpus Christi's Municipal Marina is arguably the heart of downtown Corpus Christi. Built around two "T-heads" and one "L-head", the marina is home to local shrimp boats, private yachts, public boat tours, and several waterfront restaurants. Home to the Wednesday Night sailboat races, Lawrence Street T-head offers public seating for visitors to view the local sailors as they race through Corpus Christi Bay.

"Ave verum corpus (Hail, true body), (K. 618), is a motet in D major composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1791. It is a setting of the Latin hymn Ave verum corpus. Mozart wrote it for Anton Stoll, a friend who was the church musician of St. Stephan in Baden bei Wien. The motet was composed for the feast Corpus Christi; the autograph is dated 17 June 1791. It is scored for SATB choir, string instruments and organ." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ave_verum_corpus_(Mozart)
Here you see the first page of the autograph. It's exposed in St. Stephan in Baden, and I think it's a copy.
Everybody who has ever sung in a church choir knows these notes, at least the ones of his or her voice type (I am a bass).

This great American conductor's and composer's 100th birthday was commemorated some days ago. This is a somewhat late homage.
