Taken in very harsh light. I like this pose that gives a good look at the markings on the ventral side of the fore and hindwings, and also enough of the dorsal side of the left forewing which would have a series of dark spots there if this were a male or female Purplish Copper.
I don't see these every year. I hope to get a sharper shot.

100x walks #35 & for Sliders Sunday
Coppers is a good mile walk from my front door and serves as a 'village' store, but also has a deli and sells dozens of different cask and bottled beer. I could live there. HSS!
Kleiner Feuerfalter (Lycaena Phaeas)
Lycaena phlaeas, the small copper, American copper, or common copper, is a butterfly of the Lycaenids or gossamer-winged butterfly family. According to Guppy and Shepard (2001), its specific name phlaeas is said to be derived either from the Greek phlego, "to burn up" or from the Latin floreo, "to flourish".

This is a small part of an exhibit at Birmingham Museum.
The artwork was done by Donald Rodney (1961- 1998) and titled as "Land of Milk and Honey II" Rodney was born in Birmingham. He used objects in his work to explore aspects of the human experience. His father migrated to Smethwick from the Carribean in the mid 20th century, in search of a better life in the "Land of Milk and Honey" The Vitrine contains coins and milk. They represent the 'sourced' reality many migrants actually experienced. The material he used will deteriorate and change over time.

It was wonderful to catch this small copper on the freshly browned bracken for a real autumnal feel :)
Welcome to the copper kingdom, where the miners were already busy in the Bronze Age, perhaps 4,000 years ago. After the 1760s, this small corner of Wales became the cauldron of the Industrial Revolution. Parys Mountain briefly produced more copper than any other mine in the world.
The copper from this mine coated the warships of the Royal Navy at Trafalgar in 1805.
The "Copper Kingdom" refers to the area of Amlwch on Anglesey, North Wales which once had the largest copper mine in the world.
Copper was mined at Parys Mountain and then taken down to Amlwch Port where it was further processed and then shipped around the world.

Thank you to everyone who views, favs or comments on my photos, it is always appreciated.
They can still be seen sporadically. Without light the leaves are only brown. In the sun they turn into pure copper.
Noch kann man sie vereinzelt sehen. Ohne Licht sind die Blätter nur braun. In der Sonne verwandeln sie sich in pures Kupfer.
A tree filled capture with wild stark grasses leading up to a line of trees and forests.
Just experimenting so my artistic approach to seasons with auburns, oranges and yellows in mind. Kind-off experimentation of autumn in spring if I may be indulged. Wasn't sure about this one as not 100% happy with the tree-lines which is bugging me (regret!) but hey ho its all about sharing & getting feedback on my journey to become a better amateur photographer.
