We made our second batch of cookies, Peanut Butter kisses, Peanut Butter balls, and fudge. We packed them nicely in cute Christmas tins. We will give them to our family and friends to enjoy. A happy tradition we love doing together. :)

What have you guys heard/know about the Tamron 70-300mm 4.5-5.6 lens? I need a zoom lens for stuff (weddings, ect.) and this one seems good according to amazon. Anyone have it?
While Michael was having his soccer pictures done, I took advantage of my time at 60 Acres to finally get some blackberries for our Thanksgiving pie. After a good washing, I spread them on the cookie sheet and did a quick freeze.
Using my new set-up again, but these are light different.
There is the main light comming from behind, and if you look closely there is accent light comming from the right side that you can only see close up ish

STB: Be careful, it took hours to shape that cake and that fondant has to be smooth when I fold it around the cake.

We set the Springerle out overnight before baking them. The seeds on the parchment—and underneath each cookie— are anise, and lend a trace of their flavor to the finished cookie.
I can't say I'm overly impressed by this set. The good, a cracked egg, I can't resist a cracked egg. Other than that, it's baking cookies which we've seen a billion times before, only this one doesn't even make sense. If you're making cookies at home, why is there a bakery bag? Also, couldn't they have put something in the bowl? A tiny dribble on the edge just looks stupid.
If you have these cookies on the table, will you eat them or will you rather have them on display? It's a tough call. Ok, so this is a very old cookie sheet! It could also be a texture to use in a layering project in Photoshop!
I never made thumbprints before, but I had the ingredients, so I went for it. These are sooooo good.
Recipe:
Cookie dough:
* 3/4 pound (3 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
* 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Egg Wash:
* 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water, for egg wash
Topping/Filling:
* 7 ounces sweetened flaked coconut
* jam (i used Raspberry)
-preheat the oven to 350.
-cream together butter and sugar.
-add in vanilla
-mix in flour and salt until dough comes together.
-put dough on floured surface, roll into flat disc & refrigerate for at least 30 minutes
-Roll the dough into small bals
-Dip each ball into the egg wash and then roll it in coconut.
-Place the balls on an ungreased cookie sheet and press a light indentation into the top of each with your finger. Drop jam into each indentation
-Bake for 20-25 minutes
tip: don't touch the jam when it comes out of the oven. it's like lava. related: i have a blister.
p.s. i forgot to take a picture of the finished cookies. oh well, I'll have to make them again.

It’s Spring and the weather has been a little on the warm side latey
and what better way to cool down than with something ice cold? :)
Through some toothpicks into the mix and you’ve got yourself a game.
Rules are simple.
Place two gummies with toothpicks at the opposite side
of a metal cookie sheet.
Flick the icecube with your index finger.
Gummies slide toward eachother.
Whoever falls off first, loses.
Today, we're in the home stretch of Passover preparations. I'm almost ready to "turn over" the kitchen. Passover is a huge project, with many sub-projects in an ever-distracting environment (home!)
To "empty my head", I use an old cookie sheet (painted white so it looks better and doesn't flake rust on me), some magnets, and a host of blank index cards.
If I tried to enter the many tiny buzzing tasks into any real "system", I would fall into a bottomless procrastination pit. This magnetic clipboard lets me roam about the house and sort the tasks that come to mind into categories, without shuffling cards.
Bonus: cookie sheets tend to come with a convenient hanging hole.
