1/2 cup soft shortening
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup molasses (I use dark syrup)
1 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup raisins
HEAT oven to 400 degrees. Mix thoroughly shorting, sugar, eggs and molasses. Sift together dry ingredients and stir in. Stir in rolled oats, nuts, raisins. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 " apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until lightly brown. Makes about 5 dozen.
This was my mothers recipe that she got out of a Gold Medal Flour sack back in the late 40,s or 50's this has always been my favorite cookie.
For my birthday today my best friend Bree decided to make me unicorn rainbow poop cookies. Besides the fact that she made me unicorn poop cookies she also glazed them so they were shiny and just a touch sticky as well. But they were absolutely delicious!!! Thank you Bree ^_^
I made cookies, cuz it had been way too long since the last batch! I go into baking withdrawls, sometimes, and it must be fixed right away! lol. :)

After a full week of baking, I had cookies all over my house. I had to get creative and find ways to stack and store everything.
My first try in making these kind of cookies. A bit time consuming to make because I have to put those tiny chocolate rice for the eyes, Koko Krunch Cereal for the ears and mini choc chips for the mouth.
There is one thing that can bring people of all ages and cultures to a shared smile: cookies.
I was having lunch with my young adult children and spotted these cookies at our deli. I pointed the cookies out to them, and first they paused, but then they went over and admired them. For a moment we were all just kids looking at beautiful cookies, and picking the one we liked the best.
Whether it is cookies or fruit or smiles, please look for ways to connect with the simple joys we can all share.

1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cup flour
3/4 teaspoon soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
Mix butter, peanut butter, sugars, egg, and vanilla together. Mix flour, soda, and salt together. Mix mixed parts together to form one giant lump of cookie dough. Make into 1-inch, sugar-covered balls, 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking tray. Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes.
