Macro Mondays - Book
McDougall's Cookery Book
19th Edition circa 1950's
I believe this belonged to an old neighbour and has been very well used!! It still has the original string/wool at the top for hanging and in this instance for keeping some of the pages in place !!!
(93/365) For Macro Mondays theme "Orange and Blue" I placed Mrs Beeton's Original Recipes by Jeni Wright & Everyday Pasta together on the kitchen table. Not the most inspiring shot but hopefully it fits the bill HMM!

Cookery books for Plant strong eating - I think I went over the top!! It's such a fascinating way of eating - who would possibly have thought that we have not had meat for over a year? And not missed it!!
Wild pink salmon with Russian garlic, parsley & mint from mom's garden, extra virgin olive oil and squeezed organic lime & orange juice;
Baked mixed vegetables (organic: potatoes, red beat, acorn squash, purple potatoes, onion, yam) with quince fruit from our garden, some basil, thyme and unrefined sea salt;
Gibanica = Cheese phillo pastry bake (sheep feta, raw milk, organic free range eggs, organic whole wheat phillo pasty sheets, organic extra virgin olive oil, organic raw unrefined sesame seeds);
Homemade organic whole multigrain bread;
On the side we had:
Organic heirloom peppers from the farmers market;
Organic homemade mayonnaise (our backyard eggs, organic extra virgin olive oil and organic lemon);
Organic capers;
Marinated artichokes;
The cook book is the star of this scene. It was given to me by one of my grandmother's oldest friends before she passed away. She knew I loved her cooking so she made sure I had her favourite, very well used cookbook.
I decided to grasp the nettle for this week’s Macro Mondays' theme, Handle with Care. Stinging nettle (urtica dioica) may be an irritant but it does have a range of medicinal properties, being an antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-ulcer, astringent and analgesic. Not to miss out the wise words from across the breakfast table, “Don’t forget its use in cookery, as nettle soup”.

i've decided to use the countertop oven flic.kr/p/2m3gaso more often. the old microwave packed up a few days ago and has been discarded. that has left valuable space in a small kitchen. i'm not replacing the microwave but i'm giving serious thought to buying a pasta making machine. i'll look around ...

Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. Any comments or Faves are very much appreciated
I've been a diabetic for a couple of years. For this and several other reasons I have regular health checks at my GP and at Homerton and Bart's Hospitals. At a recent visit to Homerton Hospital I was offered the chance to attend cookery lessons for diabetics. I jumped at the chance.
The course is run by Shoreditch Spa and is held in the Community Kitchen, Hoxton Square.
Please see my website for this and other photographs as cool greeting cards - www.fuzzchops.com - thanks!!
Today the We're Here group members are visiting the
DIY Home Decor group. Oh dear it's meant to be Home Decor, never mind.
I love to cook and collect cook books from every where I go. But I dont cook by the book, they inspire me.
Peas, mushrooms, herbs, stews, roasts and cabbage soup. Culinary art from prehistoric times until the Middle Ages.
And very tasty too... although I didn't tried the roasted grasshoppers and mealworms!
By the way… these grasshoppers and the mealworms were fortunately not used in the stew these ladies were making!
This photo was made with available light and it was pretty dark in this medieval house, located at Archeon, The Netherlands.

This week's theme was: Q is for Quarter
I made a pie earlier this week and remembered to take a quick phone snap after cutting out the first couple of slices. One quarter of the pie makes two servings as a dessert.
